From reading people's comments I think there is a misconception on this player. I watched 7 full games of his--anyone can--they are still archived on Yahoo. While he does have some SF skills--there is no doubt about he is a 4 man--perhaps a bit of a hybrid power forward but still a 4 in my book. He is younger than almost anyone in the draft coming into school barely 18 years old yet played at a very high level in a very tough conference. Right now he would get puched around some--Chris Bosh did--but lets say were looking at the difference between Gallinari and Randolph--Randolph is much more athletic--he's better in the post--he can handle the ball as well as any big man coming out in years--his wingspan makes him play longer than his 6-11 frame---he's much faster baseline to baselione he's going to be a much better rebounder--he's got a nice left hand stroke.

When looking at Randolph--we must ask--where would this kid be drafted IF he stayed and played two more years at LSU? I think he would easily go up to 20-10-3 next year --where would that leave him on a draft board at 6-11--lets say he gets hinself up to 225 by 19. On top of it while he is skinny and gets pushed around he's disruptive defensively because of his length he can block shots--simply he can do more than Gallinari he has more natural gifts and when its said and done he will be a true 4 with the potential ability to be an athletic 20-10 PF in the NBA.

You're certainly right about Randolph being much more athletic and I expect he'll be a better defensive player and rebounder than Gallinari. I think Gallinari has a much better outside shot. One question about Randolph. Will he be able to put on the weight he needs to play the 4? Some guys just can't do it. Others manage.

It's hard to tell about young players like that. What he makes me think of is a taller, skinnier Tyrus Thomas.

Briggs, do you pick Randolph over Westbrook? That's the big question for me. I actually think I would. Westbrook seems more a sure thing, but I think we need quality bigs a lot more than anything else. For a while I felt we needed guards, but the ability to get a talented PF who could become a 20ppg scorer under D'Antoni is too much to pass up.

We just need to rid ourselves of ZBo.

Running out:

C - Curry 24min Lee 24min
PF - A Randolph 30min Lee 10min Balkman 8min
SF - Chandler 24min Balkman 16min Jefferies 10min
SG - Nate 30min Qrich 18min
PG - Crawford 40min Nate 8min

would be my goal. we still have a big hole at G, but that can be filled more easily by FA or the draft next year.

I don't think there is anyway you can start Randolph out with 30 minutes. I saw some of those videos and he has massive potential, but he's so freaking skinny, I can totally see him getting overwhelmed off the bat. He HAS to fill in. I really think he's someone we'd need to pick though.

If it was me doing the picking--assuming that everyone is gone that we believe will be gone from 1-5 would be

a. Mcgee
b. Randolph
c. Westbrook

Now this is assuming OJ Mayo Rose Bayless and Beasley are gone. We don't know where any guy will be picked so I will be happy picking any of the three. Guys I personally dont like/want----Donte Green[to soft] Gallinari[to slow we dont need another defensive liability] DJ Augustin[to smallish] Eric Gordon[dont like his game] Deandre Jordan[bust waiting to happen] Kevin Love[I like him but I don't see him being a fit here and I worry about his weight/speed] I can live with Brook Lopez Kosta Koufus or Joe Alexander.

crzy -

The choice between Westbrook and Randolph, amongst other prospects, is sure tough and why I think we should make every effort to get two picks between 6-20.

I'd love to land both of those players, as well as other combinations of available guys in that range that I think we would have a decent shot at getting.

One caveat out of the guys I dont want--since we are playing an open system--Eric Gordon will get some consideration from The Knicks I believe because his game is taylor made for it.

Damn. I was really close to paying money to sign up so I could watch some Nevada Games, but I didn't think it would be worth it really.
