Mayo or Westbrook?

Hoopshype, Draft express and draft.net all have Mayo slipping to us, at 6, as of today. If he falls that far is he the pick over Westbrook? Both are high fliers, lauded for their defense. Mayo seems like he's more adapted to scoring with the ball in his hands. I'd be a little worried that Mayo is a prima donna, whereas Westbrook seems like a gamer. Just curious where people stand.

I would take Mayo if he was available.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

Man you're right, that's a tough choice.

I know Mayo has had this problem with the agent and all but I think he showed some maturity by ending the relationship with him and he's looking for a new agent now. His maturity and friends circus is the biggest problem I had with Mayo, I think he's really trying to stay away from that, which is good.

I really like Westbrook becuase of his superior defense but Mayo I think has the ability to be a special offensive force.

Man thats a tough call....

i like westbrook a lot but mayo is substantially more talented...if he drops we have to take him. he could be a brandon roy or joe johnson type player IMO.

I'll take either and be happy with it. I want to stay away from Gallinari--he honestly looks very similar to Boston Nachbar.

I think you have to take Mayo. He is not dropping because of a lack of talent.

yeah, but is it kind of like how we didn't suck due to a lack of talent the last few years?

i can't make up my mind. it seems like Mayo is a guy who has learned how to score like a Lebron or Kobe or Zach ie dominating the ball, getting clearouts, etc. i don't know if that works to build a team. he's clearly one of the three most physically talented/skilled players in the draft.

In this system guys like Giddens could flourish. IF we can get a second first rounder or high second rounder it would be a solid investment. I have no idea what the Knicks are going to do--what they think etc.. All I hope they do is have an open mind and not get caught up in one or two names. I think this has to be a careful process and they need to find the player who they think will be the best player down the line--not necessarily in year 1.

I love westbrook, but mayo just has that star body. I think you would have to go with mayo at this point, but that doesn't mean I hope we take him over westbrook, or would be better off taking him over westbrook.

I think the clear-outs and ball domination is more of an idictment on Floyd and his slow-ball/NBA style of offense. The few times he ran Mayo off screens, he really flourished. Besides D'Antoni stresses ball and player movement so I think Mayo can flourish here.

I still find it hard to believe that Mayo will fall to us. Without question, he is the third best player in this draft. With our recent string of bad-luck (dropping to 6th) I can see someone snatching him up before we get to our pick.

Mayo by a longshot. ESPN (as always) has rumors about Mayo going over Beasley now !

I heard Miami was really interested in him. I can't see it though - how do you play Wade and Mayo together? We're going to see a ton of draft BS in the next month.

I'm a big Westbrook fan, but if Mayo is there you have to take him at 6.

I really think Mayo has a good shot of being the best player in this draft a few years from now.
