My Xbox is dead. When I turn it on all I get is a black screen with no audio. I was hoping it was just the cables but I borrowed my buddies system and his functions fine with my cables. SIGH. Now Im stuck with a ton of great games, $200.00 in rock band accessories that I cant play, and a ton of DVDs. Of course this has to be the week I have vacation, so I cant play any games. Guess Ill just have to go outside. Sigh.

Hmm, I would find out if you have a warranty. Perhaps you can get a replacement. If you're out of warranty, then you're free to open up the system and take a look around, in case anything obvious might be wrong (not sure how tech saavy you are). The last option is I bet you could get something for a dead X-Box 360 on ebay. Maybe $50. I know it's not nearly what you paid, but you could put it towards a new one. Just some ideas.

did you have the "three rings of death" meaning three red rings are lit? i got that twice and had to return both. if it happens again, i think i will defect to a ps3. need a blu ray player anyway.

All XBOX 360's should still be under warranty so call Microsoft - they extended the warranty by 3 years to cover incidents like this. You should be set.

Im going to mail mine in, and while Im glad that Microsoft has stepped up to the plate Its annoying to me that I have to wait essentially a month to play. The Xbox 360 is so poorly made, I ve already ruined two game cds that came off the track and got scratched after bouncing around the interior of the xbox. Now this. I think once the new gen comes out im going to be giving sony a good look.

I have a launch system and have never had a problem with it - knick on wood - but then again I dont play it a ton so it hasnt had a reason to die on me.
I do have the 40 gig PS3 and I can tell you that it is a much higher quality product. Makes hardly any sound when its on, compared to the Xbox which sounds like I am launching an F-16 out of my living room.
However, gameplay wise its a toss up. The Xbox does better with first person shooters and the PS3 is fun for driving games and Blu rays. Its really hard to say which is better game wise.

You want to hear a ****ing story. My XBOX 360 was scratching my games so I mailed it in about February. After a month and no word of my XBOX. I called only to be told that somebody else has registered my XBOX 360 and it isn't mine (which is bull**** because I bought it myself brand new). I call 1800-4MY-XBOX twice sometimes three times a week and till this day I still have nt got my 360 back. Fuck Microsoft!!!

you should try Forza 2 on the 360... the gameplay is nice & the graphics & modifying options are incredible.
