I was snooping through the realgm philly boards and there is a large percentage of people that would rather Philly let Iggy walk.....in fact they would rather see Philly sign Elton Brand and slide Thaddeus to the 3 slot. Philly fans want to continue the defensive approach. They say Iggy can't shoot and dosent have a killer instinct or a sense to when he should take over.

What made me post this is this convo I had with a group of guys from philly I met at work tonight. One of the guys wanted to know how I felt about D'antoni and they said that maybe the Knicks could get Iggy. I'm like wha?.....then 2 out of 5 of the dudes started ranting about how much they couldn't stand him. The other 3 guys kinda agreed but wanted something like Josh Howard or Cuttino Mobley. Great group of guys btw....

Anyway, what the hell guys? Does anyone think Iggy is attainable? I mean he seriously can't shoot and he isn't really a guy that takes over. He's still a top notch athelete.......having him and Lee on the wings is crazy.

Yeah well what the hell?

it would take a longterm S&T... i wouldn't give up our longterm flexibility for a player like him unless we could unload Jamal's contract in the deal, & even then we'd still probably have to throw in a sweetener like a future pick... i don't think it's feasible, especially considering we're a divisional rival... DAL would be an intriguing option for the Sixers if they decide to trade Josh Howard, but i don't see why they would wanna let him go either.

This is kind of like the reaction Yankee fans had to Wang after the post-season. This is a good example of why fans aren't GMs.

You get talented players without giving up to much when their team sours on them and feels pressure to move them. I don't think that's the case in Philly with Iguodala. So we'd have to pay through the nose.

can't shoot, top notch athlete?

Don't we have that much cheaper in some combo of Balkman & Chandler?

Iggy is real good but he's a 2nd tier guy like Odom or Arenas. Not a guy you give up a ton to build around.

These guys are no where near as good as Iggy. With that said, too bad for us those fans aint the GM. No way Philly is trading him.

Fans always think grass is greener.

Its not what iggy is, which is all fans can think, but what can he still develope into. Thats for coaches and GMs to do their work and try to figure what his upside really is.

They want somting "new" to replace, which is a buzz, but thats always the case with fans.

Fans want to base around Brand, but how will he rebound from a nasty nasty injury. Will Elton still be Elton? Can he still keep it for 5 more years?

Does Iggy perhaps take the next step?

Starphuching is a fans perogitive!

you know what, they are typical philly fans. they are never happy with what they have. they booed baseball legend mike shmidt. so whatever they say about a player that has helped them they are going to be critical. i live in this area and i know. they want to trade ryan howard and you know what? as a met fan i would take him in a heart beat.

Look at some of knick fans, we get a guy who has avged 58 wins the last 4 years and thats not good enough.

We jump on his shortfalls in Phoenix and eventually the guy says he'll adapt the team and evolve it properly.

If he won once or twice, he would not be available.

Tom T or Jax has not done ANYTHING, but the hope of blowing it up is more attractive than anything tangable. I understand this, and wish it could be that easy.
