This guy talks of obvious things that are to come, but he is right about the media spot light and the affects of a bigger market. That is gonna be key for Mike to survive in NY.

And this guy goes on to talk some crap about tough defensive NY teams in the 90's, who in fact never' won an NBA championship! Even when jordan was out one year.

Now, back to the obvious, yes' we for the most part agree that this team most likely is not going to just turn it around. The real' team is yet to come. And it's going to start with a draft pick.

It's people like this who make a big deal out of anyone (other than jax) coming to coach this particular Knicks team, but don't take into account the circumstances, not to mention 'yes dumbass - we need to make the team better, to coach it better'.

This is yet another person who does not want the Knicks to succeed. He doesn't like the Knicks, but pretends to care about our needs and offered no other solutions to our coaching needs. But I thought people should know this.

I'll never trust this' team again.

4949, this guy on youtube was bang on because we all know this roster as is won't win anything significant.

D'antoni system is for stat stuffers and that's about it.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

When isiah first came to NY I was so happy. I thought we had a real GM who could make some great moves for us. I backed this guy up from day one and fought many posters who were disrespecting him.

It was about a season and a half ago that I finally faced reality and in doing so, I recognized that isiah wasn't going to be any better then what he turned out to be. I even called last season and it was a little worse than I thought, but 33 wins or 23 wins, what was the real difference at the time?

The reason I say this to you is because about a dozen posters on this board have been banging D'Antoni since he was even mentioned to possibly be our next coach. I expect you' and everyone else to give this guy a chance. The same consideration that I gave isiah from day one and stood by him for almost three years. I expect you to give D'Antoni a chance to show what he has.

The man barely signed a contract and already you have him signed off without any evidence of what you are accusing him of. Your wrong and you know your wrong. Give him the respect he is going to need from us. He's at least earned that.
I'll never trust this' team again.

So any person who is opposed to this move "doesn't like the Knicks and doesn't want them to succeed"? Man, you are brilliant.

i don't get why Steven A's talking about the "common belief around NBA coaching circles that the only player that would flourish in D'Antoni's system is Jamal Crawford"... i can picture D Lee, Balk, Chandler & Nate doing very well in D'Antoni's system, & i even think Mardy Collins will look better than he did last season running a more uptempo style because he wouldn't have to think as much as he would trying to run a half court set... running in an uptempo style guys can let their athleticism & instincts take over more, & analyze the defenses other teams are running less... i think this is a good thing for a team that had tremendous problems last year trying to execute in a half court set, particularly for Mardy who really struggled w/his game.

I'm still wondering why anyone thinks Crawful will dominate under DAntoni. He might, but, last time I checked, low percentage shooters who stagnate the offense with too much dribbling, who turn the ball over as a result of too many fancy moves, and call their own number 75% of the time that they have the ball... are not will not excel under DAntoni's system and will also prevent the system from succeeding at all.

************************

Although 4949's enthusiasm and optimism is through the roof in fact helping inspire my "nut busters and angry hordes calm down" thread I agree with him: Why not give this situation a chance, GKF? Why not? Why automatically continue the "this sucks, we suck, this wont work they suck, fire them all already" march of misery?

I think Walsh and DAntoni deserve time to prove themselves. Since you can't work miracles over night in the NBA they're going to deserve more than just this offseason to prove themselves. Unfortunately there are people that won't even give them that....

i don't think anyone said Jamal's gonna dominate in D'Antoni's system, only that it's more well suited for his skillset & athletic ability... who knows how he's gonna play? we'll just have to see it on the court to see how it plays out.

I don't know...but...eight years worth of the same sad product pulls some weight into speculating doesn't it?

As to Jamal...if he's ever going to be a halfway decent player.... he needs to:

*Play less minutes, preferably off the bench for 25 a game.
*Play defense. I don't care how poorly, just try, and I don't care if you rack up fouls, just try to disrupt your opponent at least.
*Stop with the And-1 Garbage except if you're on a fast break and you're going to use it to GET TO THE RIM --- and --- you can use it when you've been tasked to take the final shot of a quarter or game and you want to use it to get separation.
*Stop with the desire to take your shots in the 18-30 foot range. You're a good FT shooter. Get to the damn rim.
*Learn to handle the ball like a fundamentally sound player. Driving the lane half way then giving up the ball like you're playing "kill the guy" because you're afraid of contact in the lane is not acceptable. Doing 12 crossovers and then passing the ball isn't helpful for any offense.
*Stop running up to 18 feet out, then dribbling, lazily going over a screen rendering it pointless, only to wind up 18 feet away again, then doing 5 crossovers, only to still be 18 feet out, then faking a drive to the lane only to do 7 more crossovers before finally launching an 18 foot fadeaway brick.
*Learn to move without the ball, come off a pick, and hit a jump shot. Don't run around, get the ball, dribble all over, crossover 7 times, only to launch an 18 foot fadeaway brick.

See, if Jamal can stop doing all that garbage, and play fundamentally sound basketball, and use his skills properly, which we all know he is more than capable of doing he could be a valuable bench player. He could be shooting 43-44% from the field and getting 10FTAs a game.

But, well, ya know...there's 8 full seasons of anything but reason to believe he would change. He better, otherwise he needs to go. If he doesn't change and he doesn't go then why even bother.......'cause we're going to suck as we've had ever since he got here.

in those 8 years of play Jamal's shown more than a few times that he could be a premier scorer... i think he at least deserves a shot to see how he does in a new system that is more catered to his skillset & ability... in CHI he struggled to learn the triangle system under Cartwright & had a hard time dealing w/Skiles' more structured style... in NY he played well under LB & showed he could be coached, & then Isiah completely undermined everything Jamal had learned under LB the year after by letting Jamal be a chucker again... i think under a run & gun style game he'll be more comfortable & his instincts & ability will take over... i've seen Jamal make some incredible passes off the dribble & in the flow of the offense that few other guys on this team are capable of making... i've seen Jamal collect multiple double digit assist games & put forth a better effort on defense at times with his ability to get steals in the backcourt using his long arms... he's never going to be a good defensive G, but like u said if he can put forth the effort at least on a more consistent basis, that's all i can ask for... IMO Jamal is 1 of our most talented players & i would not throw him away for garbage just yet... he's provided some of the few brightspots during all the games we've watched since he got here, certainly more than most other players on this roster.
