I've noticed people saying they think Marbury will play well under D'Antoni, a coach that hated him and traded him from Phoenix.

Does anyone think Steph will actually return next season? Have people forgotten how he sabotaged 2 of the last 3 seasons by quitting on the coach?

I want no part of Marbury. He should be waived if we can't trade his contract for a usable piece.

This is what's gonna go down. They will hold onto suck and the moment he screws up' he will be fined and disciplined, until he either behaves himself or' they buy him out.

This new management isn't gonna fool around with anything here, the way it's been fooled around with before. A few fines will shut him up and he'll earn a spot on the bench.

I don't see suck being much of a problem this time.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I doubt they'll even risk his attitude at all. I think he's gone.

i don't think they'll have much of a choice... Walsh won't trade him for any big longterm contracts at this point & there aren't many teams out there that will take him on for anything other than getting a huge contract off their books... if Marbury's here, then i think he's going to play, bottomline... & being it's a contract season i don't think Marbury's going to act like the moron he's been ever since he got here... but then, this is Marbury we're talking about, so who the hell knows.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I think they'd trade him for a contract with one or two more years on it if a sweetener were added to the deal

Quote from Marbury: Marbury told the New York Post that he called D'Antoni to welcome him to the Knicks.

"We went with experience," Marbury told The Post. "It's a great move. We had a great relationship. I never had a problem with Mike D'Antoni. He said we have our work cut out for us and he's right. But I'm looking forward to running up and down the floor."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is steph just kissing up to the new coach , or will he play basketball like he used to before coming to the knicks ?

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

What's D'Andoni supposed to say "Thanks, Stephon, but Walsh & I both agree you need to go, and if we can't trade your contract for a more useful part, we're buying you out."

I'd say there's a distinct possibility Steph is here next year. I think there's certainly a very good chance that he gets bought out or gets traded for a contract with one extra year on it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If we are rebuilding, and all indications seem to point that way, why would Walsh & D'Antoni want Marbury around? He's not the point guard of the future, he's proven not to be a solid veteran presence.

The only way I could see that they would want Marbury around is if they traded our other PG's away and we were desperate. And even then, I think they would take a flyer on an NBDL type talent.

A great idea would be to send Marbury to Italy for one of their bigs.

Nikola Pekovic - 6'11 strong and athletic center who improved every single aspect of his game this year and probably became most dominant European center.

Oh, my bad. In that case, can we trade him further away?

The Marsianian Bbal league is thinking about it after passing on Cassel.
Sam was looking more like Alfa-Centaurian and Steph looks (and acts) more like Marsianian...

The possibility would lie in the Knicks not paying a guy $20 million to not play. I absolutely hope we've learned our lesson and Marbury would be waived. However, seeing as Dolan hasn't fully fired Isiah, I'm not convinced Marbury gets waived either.

Dinglebury is a joke. No self respecting GM will trade for this dumb sonababits. Walsh only play here is to pay to sit far away from the team.

Why didn't I think of that?

He only takes a roster spot.

For 20 mil you see how he comes in, see's how he plays, and then perhaps you can get some value for him or buy him out mid year if he wants to play on a team that could make a better run with him.

Put him on Boston and he is no problem with the 3 amigos as they have fatter juice cards.

This team lacks on court leadership and Marbury is the worst candidate for that role.

Walsh has to make a trade for some fresh blood to come in and be D'antoni's voice in the locker room.

Agreed. I dont see a big problem with letting him play the contract out. Remember, this is a long term rebuild. Only way I see them moving Marb, is if we somehow land Derrick Rose. I'm certain they would't want him around poisoning the PG of the future.
