D'Antoni will make David Lee a star... in his system Eddy Curry is non existent. He is slow, fat and plays no defense. Zach Randolph is an offensive beast and I would not mind keeping him but he also does not fit the D'Antoni system ( he fits more of a Utah or New Orleans Pick and pop system). So I am assuming David gets the start next year easily being that he is the most athletic and energy driven front court player. Other players that might be successful is Nate (Barbosa type player off the bench). With the current line-up I cannot see success unless we have a total turnover. I doubt Marbury will be successful as a play with a specific role (purely distributor). He has to be Starbury to be successful. Phoenix Suns play team basketball and the Knicks don't have enough intelligent or team oriented players to make this work. So I grade this deal a C+

the idea that any coach will come in to work with the current roster is not based in reality. either way the roster will be turned over. we will almost certainly get a new PG that fits the D'Antoni system in the draft or via trade this summer.

C to C + is about right. What it really boils down to is can the Knicks find the a real star to build around? Without that D'Antoni is likely up shyt's creek.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

That's the way I see it. The Knicks need a good starting pg who can run and find the open man.

Too early to grade. Gotta see who's staying and who's going first.

I say A-. I think D'Antoni fills *most* of the coaching requirements for this team and is a severe upgrade. He brings in a winning attitude and his players have worked hard for him in the past.

We all hope that this means that the troublemakers will be gone in one way or another. If this is not true, then the franchise is doomed regardless of the coach.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think our options are:

A) Derrick Rose (please!)
B) J Bayless (pretty likely available at 5)
C) TJ Ford (pretty likely available for trade)

if we can get one of those guys, D'Antoni will do a lot better here. it's too early to grade it, because we have to see how it impacts stuff like Zach's status and our approach to the cap and whether we sign Lee to a big deal.

My grade: "Incomplete"

Grade: A-

D'Antoni does not need to have a bona fide star right out of the gate, he made an average to above average player in Steve Nash a superstar and 2time MVP. It's going to take some time for D'Antoni to get the right players onto this team, but that's fine, we were going to have to do that anyway, atleast now we know theres a vision in place.

Sure getting someone like Derrick Rose is going to be a huge plus and a rebuild accelerator, but that's still unlikely. D'Antoni knows what he needs and so does Walsh and I have no doubts that they won't get those players in here, it's not going to happen over night, but I'm fine with that.

Can't grade it yet. Depends on who he hires to fill out his staff, who gets hired at GM, what we can do in the draft, if we get a team first point guard, and how much of the chaff the new GM and Walsh can liquidate and what it turns into.

Are you guys kidding? This is a huge grade A deal.

We had to bring in a guy with some street cred so that the players don't continue to act like babies.

The thought previous to this was just that we couldn't get a guy like that to take this job. The fact that we got D'Antoni is unreal.

That debate that we've been having for years about what style the team should model themselves after, yup, that's over. We will have a direction finally and you will see guys flourish because they know their roles. Jeffries could actually be good in D'Antoni's system as a Diaw type.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

It's an A+ if we can get the right players to build around D'Antoni's system. If we can get some guys to play D' too, then it's an A++. He's gonna need guys who can share the ball though, and literally be lights out shooters. Even from our big men, most likely.

However, if we get guys who are slow and black holes, like Francis, Curry and Zach, then this trade is a F------------. We need to build this roster so Mike can work with it, unlike when we had Larry Brown. I think we all need to learn from that situation.

F. Walsh/Dolan blew it. I think Grant Hill said it all when he said, "Sometimes we practice for more than twenty minutes." Couple that with a complete disregard for defense and the Knicks current roster and there is no way that this hire makes any sense. It brings up alot of red flags also. It does not appear that Walsh has the total control that he said he had. Isiah is still working, the media policy hasn't changed, the policy of getting the big name round peg for the square hole has continued, and by hiring a big name high salaried coach at this stage it appears the Knicks may again be trying to win now instead of rebuilding.

This is defintely wait and see. This guys motto is SSOL--shots in seven seconds or less--that is his style. He also favors longer athletic players who can run AND shoot.

You do need two interior players almost no matter what you do and while Lee is a good player--he is light years from Amare Stoudemire.

The players I see who can fit Lee Crawford Chandler Nate[he can compensate his lack of size] Q Rich[if he loses a lot of weight] maybe Fred Jones will come back.

Jefferies or Balkman may be able to play some back up post--in this case I would take Balkman because he can pile up rebounds block shots and is much faster on the break.

Guys who do not fit

Curry Randolph Malik James Mardy Collins Randolph Morris and one of jefferies and balkman --one will have to likely go.

Why don't we just concentrate on saving everything, and in two years, going for Paul and LeBron? That would solve EVERYTHING!
