Family matter leads to decision, he says WILLIAM HOUSTON E-mail William Houston May 7, 2008 It was a family matter, Chuck Swirsky said of his decision to suddenly resign this week as the Toronto Raptors' television voice to accept a job in Chicago calling Bulls games for WGN Radio. But it would be wrong to suppose Swirsky and his wife and children, who are from Chicago, were unhappy living north of the border. Swirsky received Canadian citizenship in January, and was preparing to spend many years calling Raptors' games. He said his family has enjoyed living the Toronto area. His decision to leave is a private matter that he chose not to discuss. "This isn't about me," Swirsky said. "I'm leaving a comfort zone where I love doing basketball for the Raptors and love the passion and support I've received from the fans. I'm doing what's right for my family, and there comes a point where I've got to listen to my family. They're the priority." Swirsky said he is taking a pay cut to accept the Chicago job - "leaving money on the table." Sources say Swirsky was making more than $300,000 a year with the Raptors. When income from his job as host of The Fan 590 afternoon radio show is included, he was earning more than $400,000 a year. [Edited by - playa2 on 07-05-2008 10:48]
