If I recall correctly D'Antoni didn't like Marbury's style of play and was instrumental in getting him traded. I'm not interested in D'Antoni personally but I don't see this guy coming here with Marbury still on the roster even at just 1 yr or a half yr.
BLUESEATS CAN YOU CONFIRM THE ABOVE WITH QUOTES FROM THE PAST?
I think he wants the Bulls job it's been noted this is his Top choice mainly because he thinks he can turn Hinrich into Nash and they have the other pieces on the team to run his style of offense. Our name is in the mix but I think it's to his liking only because he knows how desperate we are and he can use us as a means to bargain with other teams.
I'm sure this may not matter to DW if D'Antoni doesn't truly want the job because Mark is his prime choice but if DW is trying to create/maintain this nitch that coaching this team is the prime job, he's selling himself, this franchise, and it's fans a little short. I get the feeling he's trying to show how desirable this job is by giving this perception of "Oooooooohhhhhh look how many people I'm interviewing for the job my door is being beaten down by all theses interested coaching prospects."
You take out the New York relationships and I don't see too many candidates truly wanting to come here to coach. I could be wrong but this is the vibe I get. DW needs to stop the charades, hire the guy he wants get him in place well before the draft takes place to get the coach's input on the kind of player he may be most interested in coaching(draft and current roster).
