After watching the Boston/Atlanta series, I have come to really respect Childress's game. He is everything Jared Jeffires was supposed to be: a ball-handling g/f with superior defensive skills, who can score around the basket. Atlanta needs a low-post scorer badly if they want to take the next step forward in their development. I would offer Curry, Balkman, and $3 mill in cash for Palchua (?) and a resigned Childress. I doubt Atlanta would do it because Curry does not really fit their slashing offense, but with Bibby and Johnson, they should be able to play a half-court postup offense with a low-post scorer like Curry.

I know this is a minor trade in terms of everything else this team needs, but I want the team to start building around solid, young two-way players. We can get Childress cheap and he will be an excellent starter/back-up at the 2/3 spots for this team for the next 5-6 years.

As far as I am concerned, that's not minor. Nice deal.

I posted very early in the year about Childress [I think that many were opposed to it] but realistically at this point there is no way Atlanta will not match an MLE--putting out an MLE will be the same as tying up your finances for 2 weeks.

I like this deal and the fact that you would get Pachulia is a nice plus. I think Atlanta might do this if their thinking is that they need a low post player to go with their athletic and talented team. Those wing players can cover a lot of Curry's deficiencies and Balkman fits their mold. Bibby would have fun making those lob passes to Eddy and teams will not be able to double down on Eddy because Joe is a sniper out there.

Really nice deal. Hope it happens. Now come up with an idea for ZBo to be traded.

I been talking about those Atlanta boys......the playoffs just provs how good their guys are on both ends of the floor......and how tough they are.

I can definately see Curry on that team. They have Hortford who is good but should probably be a power fwd. They could keep Josh Smith.

Imho, I think Marvin Williams could be just as available as Childress in this type of deal.

Hortford
Josh
Curry
Bibby
Joe Johnson

That's a pretty damn solid team.

Atlanta could just resign Childress and keep him in his role and trade Marvin Williams. Marvin is the type of small fwd the Knicks are craving right now. Childress would be nice and I love Childress' game, but the scenerio I played out looks better for both teams.

^I agree..along with Miami, Atlanta is a team with the parts in place that can truly use Curry's low post pressence.

Chilly is a heck of a role player but ATL has gone on record they'll retain he and Smith.

I don't think so about Curry in Atlanta I am not sure they would take him although they need a big man.

I think Atlanta would be better off looking to add Diop to sure up the defense because Horford and Smith will grow into good offensive players.

I think the player that would look great in their lineup is Jamal Crawford, he doesn't have to do the scoring and he can break people down and kick the ball to the right people to to mention shoot the ball. He would have been a much better option than Bibby who is terrible at this point in his career. They would also benefit from hiring Avery Johnson.

Childress and Lowry are championship role players that I think the Knicks would really benefit from having, but the Hawks or the Blazers are going to get Childress he would be perfect for the Hawks

Would Atlanta want Eddy Curry clogging up the paint? I don't think this is a ridiculous trade idea by any stretch, I just think Curry's addition will make all the other players increasingly ineffective offensively... not like he'll make up for it defensively either.

Bibby and Johnson would hit more threes than the Knicks, but the rest of Atlanta's wing players are suspect there. So even if Atlanta trades for Curry and employs the Isiah Thomas strategy of force feeding Curry the ball, I'm not sure this team is designed to take full advantage of Curry.

And that's really the problem with trading Curry... he'd be an ideal fit on most teams 10-15 years ago. But now? I don't see him as a good fit too many places. I think the Hawks would rather let Childress walk than trade for Curry too, considering their ownership situation.

This is why I think Marvin could be had for Eddy Curry.

Supreme Commander: you can't assume they will play that force feeding bull**** Isiah has been doing. They are a team built around their wing players and the backcourt. They will probably stick with that philosophy. With that said, that is perfect for Curry. Curry should get his share of touches inside on occasion......the real plus here is using Curry as a Pick and roll guy. Bibby is great at that and so is Joe Johnson. Curry would have to be used in that way to get him involved in the team concept. I think with a team already winning, adding Curry's big body and sometimes unstoppable frame is a huge plus......atlanta wouldn't be losing much cuz they already have excess with Childress still around.

Again I believe Marvin Williams is the guy.

I can't even breakdown the roster with him on it cuz Zach could be gone from the team as well. The Knicks need a roster flip and this imho seems like the way to go.

Check it.......Marvin and speedy claxton for Eddy Curry and Balkman as per real GM trade checker.

Speedy has 2 years left after this season. We don't know what his deal is.....but the prize is Marvin Williams.

I have been a childress fan for a long time, and I even said, he isa better ball player than josh smith.. smith may be flashier, but childress is just a more skilled player.. He would solve our SF problems immediately..

going after childress will require years of committment. he seems like a player you add to the mix later based on how the team's rebuilding is going. otherwise he will be just as useless as jeffries.

wouldn't it be easier to acquire a late 1st rounder & grab Brandon Rush (plus, he can actually shoot)

That's mathematically impossible.
