If Lopez is available at 5 I think the Knicks have to take him. He appears to be a cornerstone type player. However, if they take him they need to rid themselves of both Zach and Curry. I am not sure how you can do that and get anywhere near equal value at this point.

I don't agree. I think he'll be worse than either Zach or Curry.

I should explain, instead of making a simple statement like that and not supporting it. Zach and Curry have their weakness, but each of them are good inside scorers and Zach is a good rebounder. There isn't anything that Lopez does very well.

He's a pretty good passer and he's a better shot blocker than either of our big guys, but his shot blocking isn't anything that will translate to the nba. Thabeet, for example, blocks twice as many shots as Lopez. Lopez did average 19 a game, but his shooting percentage is very low for a top college big man.

I think Lopez is a classic example of a successful college player who's game doesn't translate well at the next level.

I don't think we should speculate on who to take until the lottery is set. To make a decision we first need to know where we stand interms of the pick. Right now we could specualte on anyone from 1-8.

Except for 4.

Well, let's also keep in mind that some of the most highly sought after drafts turned out to be mediocre, if even that, and some of the most underrated drafts have turned out to be great stars. You never know what your going to get and Lopez might excel in the NBA or be a total bust. Who knows? No one does, so how can anyone assume anything?
I'll never trust this' team again.

I agree that Lopez seems overrated to me. Bayless or Mayo would be my pick at 5. We already have an offensive-minded weak rebounding center. Lopez might be a better overall player than Curry just because he looks like he might be able to block a shot per game and can pass, but he won't be so much better than Curry that I would use the 5th pick on him. We need a replacement for Marbury badly on this team. I don't want to go through another season of Nate and Crawford as our primary pgs.

Ideally, I would like to draft Mayo and trade Crawford for a proven pg, like a Calderon. The Grizzlies have 3 solid pg prospects also. I watched Crittenton play and I think the kid has the potential to be really good if he keeps developing his game.

This is where those stupid ass wins t the end that very few here were celebrating came back to bite us in the ass. We could have easily been the 3rd worst team but now we're sitting here needing a borderline miracle to have a chance in the top 2.

Forget about the miracles.
It's time to stop poking around and start working to build the team in NYC from ground up.
This team is not even 0 it is sub-zero level.
No pick will help this dreadful thing to turn around.
It will take hard work and years and years to dig out of the hole.
Pick is irrelevant and we don't want to give Jimmy false hope for fast turnaround.
We should stink to the worst possible level next year to keep his as far away from bbal as possible.
