I think he is better suited the players Pheonix have. Dallas has some roster issues right now. Dumb asses should have never traded for Kidd.

Oh no! Carlisle would have had this team playing elite level defense, shooting at a high percentage from everywhere on the floor, and leading the league in A/TO ratio in no time flat! There goes our 08/09 finals run! NooooooOOOOOOO!!!!

...Sorry, not a direct attack on you, joe, just on the baffling continued notion that "the right coach" will actually lead to this team competing at a high level.

Good coaches are hard to find, it'd be wonderful to get a good coach in here, but the reality is that no coach can cure this cancerous beast of a team --- It's the ROSTER that's rotten to the core! and until that roster changes, and changes dramatically, it matters not who we *could have* or will hire to coach this season - we're not going _anywhere_ with a Curry-Zach-Q-Craw-Marbury lineup. All five gotta go before REAL success comes to New York and no coach is going to change THAT reality.

Chilax dude! I think everyone understands this isn't the team we can win with moving forward. We all know the team (if you can call this team a team) needs to be gutted like a fish. But we do need a coach to implement a style so the new GM can go out and aquire the pieces to compliment that style.

Cosmic is just being a dick. We all have condemned this team. Nobody is hoping a coach will come in and get this team to win as is.

Knicks definately do need "the right coach" to begin a new, planting the seeds for a playing style and philosophy going forward as the Knicks begin their change over the next 3 years or so.

Rick carlisle is better suited for the players in Pheonix cuz they just need their philosophy tweaked. He definately would have been a disaster here in NY with the way things are......which is nothing at all.

You need a good coach if you want to get better. Mark Jackson isn't even a coach for goodness sake. If he become the coach of the Knicks we are gonna get stuck with a coach who doesn't know what the hell he is doing and it will set the franchise back basically even more than it has gone back in recent years. That is why it is imperative to get a coach in here who has done good work with other teams in here.

Making Mark Jackson a coach is settling for a coach. If that is the case then I would rather have a high school coach run the Knicks, instead of Mark Jackson experience must account for something. Since we have a roster that is mish mosh we need a high octane coach in here like D'Antoni to get these losers running and gunning to cover up their deficencies on the defensive side of the ball. What this will do is get the Knicks players inflated stats and takers might lineup for their services.

I'm glad to hear that. Carlisle is the candidate I was hoping the Knicks wouldn't hire.

Great Hire.

I feel Carlisle will extend the Mavs life but they are still missing the components to win a championship.

I approve and applaud this move.
