1. Why was Isiah not completely banished from the organization? It can't be just dollars and cents because after all the people Isiah fired and forced Dolan to pay money out why not just make a completely clean break. Also I cannot remember in recent history where a situation such as Isiah happened where basically the guy did an absolutely atrocious job and still remained with the organization.

2.Why did Dolan not even have a conversation with guys like West, or Colangelo? Are they not considered the best available candidates? Also the Pacers had some very solid years but I wouldn't consider their management anything particularly outstanding. Clearly this team needs beyond the usual decent management this organization needs the best thats out there to fix this mess. Not saying it isn't possible with Walsh but nonetheless I am concerned.

3.Walsh was given a 3 year contract yet the way this team is constructed even under the best circumstances it will most likely take the Knicks 3 to 4 years to remake the roster. How much is this going to impact his player personnel decision is going to be more likely to go after some quick fixes or is going to show restraint and make long-term moves that may not pan out until 3 or 4 years?

4. When is the hiring of the next GM going to take place? From the names being floated around (assuming these rumors can be trusted) I'm not terribly excited. Most of the names seem to be guys with somewhat medicore records. This is NY and after two horrible management regimes the Knicks should be searching for the best available. It cannot be reiterated enough the Knicks should always be searching for excellence in not just their players but management and coaching as well.

5. The coaching situation: If Mark Jackson is truly going to become the Knicks coach this seems like a very risky move. If he comes in and turns the Knicks around he could win COY but if he comes in and is horrible the Knicks will be stuck in yet another conundrum how long before we starting thinking of firing him?

6. None of the above is to say that I am not willing to be patient and see how things pan out. But as long as Dolan is running this organization there is always that fear of this being just a figure head for Dolan's lunatic ideas

Just let it go at this point.

Is Walsh really that inferior to Colangelo? And West hasnt exactly lit the world on in Memphis. Its funny how the same people that have reservations about acquiring Jackson based on his lack of experience, have no qualms with handing the keys of the whole operation over to someone that is almost equally as unproven. Walsh is smart, experienced, credentialed, and knows the city.

Eh, if he deserves an extension, I'm sure he'll get one. Dolan is probably reticent to lock someone up long term in management at this point.

Why the lack of patience? Why the trust in rag-inspired rumors? Not only that, but whoever is brought in will work in conjunction with Walsh, and will not be on an island of his own.

The Old Weasel didn't get to stay.

As far as Zeke goes: he's got a placeholder, pseudo-job now. I'm guessing DW wants to make it so he can find another job and leave the organization quietly as opposed to getting thrown out on his ass like most feel he deserves. Thusly, why Little Jimmy wanted him, I'm guessing. West and Colangelo would no doubt have tossed Zeke right outta here.

I don't see DW here past his contract. He says he's going to clean up this mess and better our cap situation for '10.

Just have to see what team hits the floor come October, I guess.

Well if he trades Zach, she'll insist on him being fired.

Larry Brown?

He was fired despite his reputation of being able to turn franchises around after 2 or 3 seasons. So NOT the same situation as Isiah not even remotely close.
Just let it go at this point.

Any Knick fan should be concerned as long as Isiah remains with the Knicks organization in any capacity. He may not have official influence but there is no telling his unofficial unfluence that he may have with Dolan. Who clearly holds Isiah in high regard judging by all the free passes he's given the guy.
I think inferior is too strong of a word but I would say that Colangelo does have a stronger track record then Walsh. And Colangelo is considered by most experts to be one of the best basketball minds (in terms of managerial decisions). And West we'll put aside for a moment that he built the Shaq/Kobe Laker dynasty and just look at the Memphis situation. Memphis prior to West was pretty much rock bottom in the NBA and he turned them around into a consistent playoff team. However the Pau Gasol injury pretty much unhinged the organization and they've decided to in rebuild mode. I'm not saying that there neither of these guys hasn't made mistakes but they still are arguably one of the better basketball minds around.

Also I don't know who your referring to as being unproven because Colangelo and West (if you even know their history) are far from unproven or credentialed.

Eh, if he deserves an extension, I'm sure he'll get one. Dolan is probably reticent to lock someone up long term in management at this point.

Oh like Isiah deserved his extension. Walsh is 70 years old so how much could he seriously be apart of long-term plans. Now of course if the Knicks are rebuilt come 3 years down the road then great and all of this moot. But if this rebuilding process is going to take longer which is a very real possibilty then its valid concern to question Walsh's potential longevity.
Why the lack of patience? Why the trust in rag-inspired rumors? Not only that, but whoever is brought in will work in conjunction with Walsh, and will not be on an island of his own.

Its not impatience but the Knicks should be looking for the best possible candidates for both the GM and coaching jobs period. No experimentations no guys with medicore records but proven successes is what the Knicks should be seeking or do you disagree think the Knicks should get whoever?

Damn, he's not even here yet and you're already talking about firing him????? LOL.

I talked about two possibilities because imo NY is strictly a pass or fail city. Meaning that the next Knicks coach will either turn this team around and having them playing some decent basketball or it could be just another along many of unsuccessful seasons for the Knick's organization. Besides this is professional sports and is always in a position to protect his job.

First I hate how Walsh takes his time on trades, extensions, hiring of coaches. Second I cant see how you hire a GM or a coach that hasnt had a bevy of experience. Forget about the announcers and the guys that havnet accomplished anything in the coaching ranks
