Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Miami Heat have scheduled a press conference for Monday afternoon, at which time Pat Riley will reportedly step down as the team's head coach.

According to WPLG-TV in Miami, Riley, who was named to the Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year, is expected to make if official at 4pm et.

Riley's exit comes following a tremendous on-court struggle for his team. Just two years removed from coaching a team led by Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal to the NBA championship, the Heat floundered to an NBA worst 15-67 record this season.

The 63-year-old coach has been with the Heat since 1995, when he left the New York Knicks after four seasons as their head coach. He coached the Heat for eight seasons until stepping down in 2003.

Riley remained with the team in a front-office capacity but returned to the bench in 2005 after then-coach Stan Van Gundy announced his resignation just 21 games into the campaign.

Six months later, the Heat upended the Dallas Mavericks to win their first and only NBA championship in franchise history.

This past season, Riley took a leave of absence in January 2007 to undergo surgery for hip and knee problems before returning to the team a little more than a month later.

Riley also coached the Los Angeles Lakers to four NBA titles.

He'll be back again when the Heat are ready to contend again.

Can't have those losses continue to go on his personal record.

Thank Goodness. He was really an out of touch and terrible coach for this era. The game passed him by.

Riley was only coaching because Shaq wanted him to. Riley's time will be better spent rebuilding the roster now.

How about Bob McAdoo time. He has been sitting on the bench as an assistant and has been there even before Stan Van Gundy.

Bob isn't the one being groomed for the job. He wants to be an assistant. E's been Riley's protege and has been next in line for years. If Shaq wasn't such an *******, E probably would have probably had the job by now.
