Bobcats fire Sam Vincent

CHARLOTTE — Sam Vincent was fired by the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday after just one season as coach.

The fourth-year franchise entered the season with hopes of making the playoffs for the first time, but went 32-50.

Part-owner Michael Jordan, who has the final say on all basketball decisions, took a gamble in hiring Vincent. He had never been an NBA head coach and had spent just one year in the league as an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks.

Vincent clearly suffered growing pains. He struggled to find a consistent rotation, constantly shuttling Raymond Felton between point guard and shooting guard. Vincent also angered players for questioning their effort and commitment in front of reporters.

While majority owner Bob Johnson gave Vincent a vote of confidence, Jordan was mum on the issue, saying he would decide on Vincent's fate after the season.

Charlotte finished with one fewer win than in 2006-07, despite acquiring Jason Richardson in a draft night trade and significantly increasing its payroll.

Vincent's ouster means Larry Brown could quickly become a candidate for the job. Brown and Jordan have a history from their ties to North Carolina, and Brown's mother lives in Charlotte.

Brown resigned as executive vice president of the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday. Brown's agent, Joe Glass, refused to discuss the Charlotte job Saturday, but said his client is eager to return to coaching.

“Larry is interested in getting back into coaching in the pros or college,” Glass said.

Larry Brown has would but good for this team at this stage, cuz they are good just not well organized. I don't trust Larry Brown......but hey its not my team so **** it.

Hire a young rookie coach to a cheap contract, set him up for failure, fire him, and then hire a veteran coach to right the ship...that sounds like something Jordan would do (doesn't this remind you of his Washington days?).

For those that don't know what the next step is, Jordan is going to make his 100th comeback to the NBA and play for Larry Brown as the Bobcats proceed to miss the playoffs.

Jordan is a horrible executive.

Don't forget K-Mart. As was evident none of those players were rumored to Philly or acquired by Philly when he was a consultant there.

Bobcats who? They should call themselves the TarHeel Pros aka the OTHER basketball team in Carolina, professional edition. Its disgusting, all the players are from UNC and now so will be the coach.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Hiring Vincent was just a stupid move. They just traded for Jason Richardson.....they aren't a team like the Knicks where they just flat out have no chance......they have franchise players that are locked in, like ok4, gerald, JRich, and Felton......they need a proven coach. Brown is gonna have Felton by the balls. I don't like that approach but like I said....its not my team. Hopefully Felton responds and that team starts to turn the corner. I like their roster.

Fuck Micheal Jordan btw. I hate the dude and not because he destroyed our Knicks. He is just a bitch and a totally ****ed up person.
