Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski announced today that Executive Vice President Larry Brown has chosen to resign.

In January of 2007, Brown rejoined the Sixers organization as Executive Vice President, less than six years removed from coaching the franchise to the NBA Finals in 2001.

“It’s rare you’ll find a separation between an organization and an executive as amicable as the one the 76ers had with Larry Brown today,” said Stefanski. “Larry was born to coach and this is something he and I talked about when I took the job here back in December, so it comes as no surprise to me. Working with Larry was always a pleasure and to watch him contribute with Maurice, his staff and the players was terrific.”

So here we have a GM who worked with LB for just a short while giving accolades of the effect he had on the organization.

LB will shine in 09'

I wonder where he lands? Something tells me he'll replace a coach who gets axed from one of the playoff teams...(Dallas, Denver, Toronto)

That would sell a lot of tickets,a HOF coach coming back to take care of the job he was never allowed to finish.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Oh hell no. We don't need Magoo nor Isiah Thomas. Time to move forward not backwards. Lenny Wilkins turned out to be a better coach than both of those clowns.

Did u say Dallas? Cuban wouldn't give him the time of the day, remember the fiasco around him not allowing players to play for the olympic tam?
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I'm not a big fan of LB but my gut feeling tells me Denver is going to be his destination. Carl will be fired after their season comes to an end.

It would be sweet justice served. A fellow New Yorker reaching out to another fellow New Yorker.

Actually, wouldn't it make sense to let him come back and 'earn' the money he was already paid? And since he didn't get all of what he was suppose to make, they can make it a three year deal, instead of four more, that he didn't finish.

Do you really think LB would have the patience to wait out some of these contracts and follow the plan laid forth by Walsh to get salary cap space by 2010? Brown would be in Walsh's office after the 3rd preseason game with a list of players he wants Walsh to acquire for him, and you can bet Ratliff, Snow and Steve Francis will top that list.

How in the world would Larry Brown be able to acquire players, if he's a coach?
