this year. I don't think that KG or Kobe do as much for their team as Paul does. I can put Lebron in the issue as the best player in the NBA[which he is] but I think Paul might be the most valuable to his team. If Nash was those years--then Paul is this year. Thats my vote--chris paul

Dont disagree with this premise but Nash had no business winning the MVP that second year.

Absolutely. Chris Paul no doubt got my vote for NBA MVP. This guy has been great all year and continues to be phenomenal in the playoffs. The Hornets without Paul is like a man walking on one leg. This guy simply elevate his team to a new level.

This debate can go on and on, but there's a reason he'll be getting MVP, and not Paul. Simply the best player in the world who is currently playing for the best team in the West. He battled through injuries all season long, whether through his teammates or through his own injured pinkie.

It would be a slap in the face is Bryant was denied the MVP this year. It would be terrible for the NBA If Kobe becomes the best player to never win an MVP award.

I don't know, I guess Kobe deserves just as much. Lakers look great with him there. Flip a coin dude. I still say Paul for MVP. He is just so phenomenal.

I seriously flipped a coin. Took "tails" with Kobe, and got it.

I'll take Kobe for MVP. The reason Nash won back2back MVPs is because the league was ga-ga over the Suns offense and Nash was at the center of it. I think the race between Kobe/Paul is real close, but I'll take Kobe.

whatever happened to Baron Davis & T-Mac? you were riding both those guys' coattails pretty hard during the regular season.

Looks like a Kobe vs Paul match up for bona fide NBA MVP. This coin flip should be in consideration for deciding a tight race for MVP. Yet I still say Paul is very phenomenal and deserves it so.

I was on the Chris Paul bandwagon all season it was clear in my mind he was mvp hands down.

But I was sold on Kobe for the fact that he only had Gasol for 27 games and only had Bynum for 35 games ye he still ended up with the best record in the West.

The remaining role players are Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher, Jason Farmer, Vladimir Radmanovic, Ronnie Turiaf, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic

That is a good point on Kobe. I like Kobe, he is very MJ-esque. Got Lakers to have the best record in west. Bravo. But Chris Paul all the way got these Hornets into playoffs and they are like the 2nd best record in the west. The hornets? The HORNETS dude. He made them this good. It is Phenomenal Paul all the way to the MVP stand.

I agree. Unfortunately the vibe I get is that stupid Kobe is going to win it instead.

I think the Lakers finishing with the top seed in the west clinched it for him. I think Paul would be the front runner if the Hornets had finished first instead.

LOL I never had those guys winning it outright I had them in the running(discussion so to speak) at certain points during the season just like people had Dwight Howard, who has no shot at winning at this point. When we were discussing candidates around the time the Rockets were on their winning streak I had my rankings as follows.

1. Paul
2. Lebron
3. K.G.
4. Kobe & T-Mac

If you want me to pull up the thread to embarrass you I will.

Paul's Hornets made a 17gm improvement from last yr

Kobe's Lakers made a 15gm improvement from last yr.

Chris Paul almost did what no player has ever done in NBA HISTORY and that's average 20/ppg 10ast/ppg and 3stl/gm. He made one player an All-Star in West and almost got Tyson in himself.

The only thing Kobe really has on Paul is a 1gm better season team record.

He never said they were MVPs. He just said that T-Mac was substantially better than Jamal and that no one would take on extra salary just to get Jamal to replace T-Mac (your proposal).
