Los Angeles Clippers free-agent center Michael Olowokandi agreed Tuesday night to join the Minnesota Timberwolves for the NBA's $4.9 mid-level exception....
...Getting Olowokandi at that price -- the most over-the-cap money Minnesota could offer -- will come as a significant blow to size-starved teams such as the New York Knicks....
This just goes to show us that the image and prestige that the Knicks once had is long gone. Players don't even consider playing for the Knicks any more. We proably had no chance of getting this guy. Which is sad because they got him for the exception! We had the same money to offer and I'm sure LayDUM (even with all of his mistakes) would have jumped at the chance to get him at that price. But no one wants to play for a team that has no bright future ahead. And with no chance of seeing the playoffs anytime soon. There was a time that everyone wanted to play for the Knicks or even yet, play in the Garden. That magical lure seems to have fanished. That's because we aren't winning anymore. Players want the chance to win (of course money counts as well).
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

... maybe KG can light a fire under this talented yet heartless player. I can't see Olowokandi coasting like he did in L.A. with Mr. Garnett on the premisis.

I think Kandi is going to thrive in Minny. The Clipper organization causes alot of the lack of passion you see in their players. Also, there aren't any vets (like Garnett) there to push the young guys.

Well, maybe it should be here... afterall, Berman had an article this morning telling us how SWEET KANDI would be to the KNICKS!! (rolling eyes, shaking head)
... and Layden was watching... assessing the situation.

Kandi isnt all that great but we needed him...I think he is possibly an upgrade over Nesto? Who knows, we will find out. The knicks are stinking up the free agent and trading market - but we dont have much to work with.
Hands are tied.

Kandi was the center we needed at that price that,s great.Well now laydum will sign campbell for about 4 millon for the next 5 years,,,,and then we will have the most overpaid team in the N.B.A .Eisley 5 millon,Houston 14 millon,Spree 12 millon,Dice12 millon ,Campbell 4 millon,6man Anderson 7 millon, that,s about 54 millon not counting knight 5millons in 6 player,s and we are so Dum that we still go to the games.Go Laydum,Go Laydum,Go.

Assuming the Lampe buyout price does not change from the 2 mill-couldn't Layden have offered Ward plus 2 mill plus fillers and a 2nd rounder to Clips for Kandi in a sign and trade if Kandi would have wanted. At least Clips would have something to show for it
