Not that big of deal at all. I think in the heat of the moment I have motioned his hand away but I definitely wouldn't try to give a all out retaliation. Dirk better be fortunate West didn't truly get in them cakes.

it has nothing to do with Dirk being soft...have a coke and a smile and applaud the fresh meat showing some steel from rip...NO has been working hard and playing good basketball for 3 years now and it finally all came together for them

From this post I thought the guy was mushing his hands in Dirk's face. It wasn't that big a deal and nothing worth getting ejected/suspended over.
I do think the NBA is too soft nowadays though. All these fines, suspensions, and flagrant fouls being handed out in today's NBA is a joke. Thank you, Rick Brunson.

In that situation, you do whatever you feel you can get away with, without being ejected. Swatting his hand is the minimum, I think he would've gotten away with an open handed jab. I remember when Peeler went at KG, years ago - KG didn't do too much but atleast he got in his stance. If you do absolutely nothing, you let the other team keep a psychological advantage that, I think, ends up helping their performance.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.
