First of all I think dooming the franchise after we are all getting what we want which is a new president, a new GM and a new head coach is pretty decent.

Walsh will have final say on basketball decisions so Isiah is powerless.

If the knicks in 3 years still can't win 34 games then bring Isiah back. It won't matter.

Generally "reassignment" is a precurser to MAYBE him leaving. His contract might have been very unusual and we have no idea how it was constructed. The fact was he was heading to a trial AND got a 4 year extension. Logic, if there was any in mSG would have constructed a contract to allow MSG to terminate under some conditions. Isiah, given his vanity might have agreed to some things but also might have recieved a close that allows him to be reassigned then resign under his own accord with some benefits in return for keeping his mouth shut. It may be for the full 18 mil or some lessor amount.

I may be way off base but keeping the mud from slinging in any divorce would benefit MSG.

Isiah should go quietly in the night. Might be next month, or months from now. Or 36 months.

True it would be best for fans to have full disclosure that he has been removed entirely.

But its apparent he has been castrated and perhaps he had a "dignity" clause to maintain some reputation (at least in his mind).

For Isiah to be forced to coach for two seasons and lie in his own fecal roster, then removed as president and then as coach must be very humiliating for the HOF, top 50 player that is ISIAH THOMAS. Not that we care of course.

One final fact remains. Isiah is still the best point guard employed by MSG!

Oh **** after reading the title of the thread I thought this was the one where everybody was supposed to state their indiviual overreactions on Isiah staying...
Then I could have actually contributed ...

We're not over reacting! Where have you been the last several years?

Just because Knicks fans complain about this, has no bearingb on us as Knick fans.

And as far as isiah being the best pg for Knicks organization? Oh boy' that will get us far.
I'll never trust this' team again.

whether it is an overreaction or not will be determined by what we see actually begin to transpire.

If we don't see the snake in public - at draft work outs, etc- or quoted in the papers, then yes, reassignment is correct.

Still, Dolan needed to take responsibility for Isiah and fire him - he's avoided the reality of his bad decision. I wonder how clean he is in terms of his efforts to avoid drugs & alcohol.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer a public flogging or taken round back and "terminated" as much as anyone.

But we talking MSG here and things are done differently.

Bottom line is a major shift has occured and we are getting what we want.

Nobody outside of this club can accurately know what is going on and to what extend isiah has been stripped of.

isiah has contructed a whole staff and perhaps until Walsh replaces them you leave Isiah in the fold just to keep for a smoother transition.

I would like justice served as much as anyone and Isiah is deserving of humiliation. But how does that help the franchise.

And if many of you did not notice, attendance did not suffer.

"Real fans" are discusted with this team, but Paying fans is what really matters.

Pity we couldn't have kept Hitler around as a behind the scenes advisor to the new German government.

entertaining post as usual nalod.. good points, but somewhere deep down inside this just doesn't satisfy.. I want him gone, castration is fine, leaving him powerless is fine, but he is still around and that bothers me.... but hey, walsh is in charge... I will watch how this unfolds...

So the choices are this:

1. Walsh really has the power now and will make all the decisions.

2. The guy just took the money agreed to be the scapegoat for the mess for the next three years and keep Isiah around and bascally nothing has changed.

Now, the very sight of Isiah makes my skin crawl with revulsion but I am find that second option somewhat hard to believe.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

And CLYDE is the best point guard paid by MSG thank you-
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I don't think Isiah is going to have any influence over James Dolan, or come back in any significant capacity with the Knicks, which is why I am not upset over the announcement. I think that's the key difference between those who are upset and those who aren't.

Although I can't say for sure that Isiah and Dolan don't have the naive pawn and puppet master relationship that some people speculate them to have.

Pretty much agree with this. Lets wait and see what transpires next. If we land a good pick and continue to move in the direction of relieving some of the stress on the salary cap (as we all have been praying for since Ewing was entering his last season), then Isiahs role or lack there of will be pushed to the back of our minds further than Isiah has been pushed to the bowels of MSG.

As I stated in another thread, I dont think we will hear nor see Isiah for awhile.

For once I agree with Dolan, I mean Nalod.

Isiah will do the scouting and walsh will make the decisions.

What's all the fuss about, go out and have a great weekend.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

That's a little over the line, IMO.

Maybe I overestimated this board's ability to digest sarcasm and hyperbole. Substitute the tyrant of your choice.

What good does it do to keep a disposed dictator as an adviser to a new regime? It's an insult to integrity.

Just to clarify things, I don't defend the decision to keep him on, I just don't think its a big deal just yet. Give it time, he might just "leave to persue an opportunity outside of basketball"

The thing is, we're all hoping that Isiah's role has been sufficiently diminished and trying to be optimistic in spite of Walsh's decision, whereas if he were just fired it would be over, really and truly, and we wouldn't have to go through mental gymnastics to feel safe.

I wanted to be done with "lets wait and see" - that's what the last two years have been about and they've been unbearable. unbearable. Walsh blew a prime opportunity to put the sordid past behind us and he choked.

Now whenever I think of Walsh I imagine him walking the halls of MSG with dog poop and spent condoms hanging off his shoe. It just stinks.

yea, I agree blue.. it is like a bad marriage in which your wife stole money, had affairs and abused the kids, so instead of divorcing her, you move her into the basement, take the checkbook and tell her she has to have supervised visits with the kids.... It just stinks. Instead of a divorce and a complete break, you keep her around.. just don't trust it bro.. I just don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
