Mark Jackson denied reports that he left the YES Network because he eventually will be named as Isiah Thomas’ replacement.

“It’s not true,” Jackson said yesterday over the telephone. “My contract expired and I simply wanted to acknowledge some people over the air who have meant a lot to my career. This idea that I announced that I was leaving because I have a job somewhere else is crazy.”

Jackson had been Marv Albert’s broadcast partner during Nets games.

“Commuting back and forth from Los Angeles became too much,” he added. “Plus, I still have a contract with ABC. I have not spoken to any teams and I don’t have a job with any team.”
