zach + lee + cash

for

larry hughes + chris duhon + 2008 #1 pick (probably #9 overall)

knicks
- get another #1 pick this year
- remove zach's 2010/2011 salary
- get backup pg in duhon
- athletic, tall, wing player in the backcourt that can defend

bulls
- gives them a veteran big man that can score
- gives them a hustle big man at the 4 (w/ noah at the 5)

both teams would have to make follow up deals to fill out holes or clear some glut. knicks could followup with a steph for jermaine deal giving them a starting PF. bulls would have to move one of their forwards (gooden/tyrus/nocioni) to bring in some guards.

Whose going to play the power forward spot even if we assume the Knicks draft for the PF spot you'll still be very light at the spot. I would only move Randolph/Lee together if we're getting back enough solid rebounder and hopefully defender. Otherwise your just replacing one set of weaknesses for another set.

And Larry Hughes has the guy ever played 60 games in a season?

follow up deal would be needed (i suggested marbury for o'neal)...and sign someone on the cheap like bringing back kurt thomas or someone like brian skinner...or make a small move like malik for kenny thomas.

these moves are not answers...but the beginnings of getting rid of some of these guys, bringing in some vets to add some professionalism and not deter from a long range plan.

Unfortunately, trading away Lee is the only way we can get rid of Zach and Eddy. This would be a trade I would do but Duhon is on his last year now. It would have to be something else. As long as we can get a 1st rounder back with trading DLee with ZBo or Eddy I am down with.

don't see the Bulls giving up an expiring & a #9 w/Duhon while taking on a ton of cap for 2 players that won't vault them to any title contention... D Lee & Zach can help their squad but it won't be worth that pricetag.

they can simply save their cap space & go after Lee in free agency if they value him that much & y would they want to give up their 1st rounder to take on Zach's contract? not to mention they made all these trades to clear cap room so they could make a run at a Kobe, Wade, Bosh, etc. after next season... they not gonna completely derail their plans by trading for Zach Randolph... ain't happening dj my man.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Im not saying its impossible--but if you were a rival GM--would you take a risk on the chemistry busting Zach randolph? It's not about 20-10 its about the negative effect he has on the team game.

Never speak Jermaine O'Neal's name I MEAN NEVER. His best years are gone he's injury prone, is paid franchise money, gives inconsistent effort, and has no mental or physical toughness unless Ron Artest/Stephen Jackson are playing alongside of him. All the other cheap deals mention here don't really seem like season long solutions.

Bitty Larry Hughes is a saint louis boy also. The only time he played 60 games was his contract year.

Yikes!!!!!

Uhhhhhmmmmm you can't even do this trade under CBA rules until after the draft. Which would imply illegal under the table discussions were taking place well before the draft. The Bulls would select a player for us @ 9 hoping that we follow through on the principled deal and this would be illegal.
(c) A Team cannot trade any player after the NBA trade deadline occurring in the last Season of the player’s Contract, or after the NBA trade deadline occurring in any Season that could be the last Season of the player’s Contract based upon the exercise or non-exercise of an Option or Early Termination Option.

(2) A player and his Team may amend a Player Contract (including by entering into an Extension) pursuant to an agreement between such Team and another Team concerning the signing of the amendment and subsequent trade of the amended Contract; provided, however, that no such agreement may be made during the period from the last day of the last Regular Season covered by the Contract (or the last day of any Regular Season that could be the last Regular Season covered by the Contract based upon the exercise or non-exercise of an Option or ETO) through the following June 30.

(1) To renounce a Veteran Free Agent, a Team must provide the NBA with an express, written statement renouncing its right to re-sign the player, effective no earlier than the July 1 following the last Season covered by the player’s Contract.

(5) In no event may a Team and a player renegotiate a Player Contract from March 1 through June 30 of any Salary Cap Year.

First of all Duhon is an expiring contract. He can't sign a new deal until July 1. The draft happens in June. Duhon would also have to be S&T to us... at what salary begs to question. You have to find another player under contract to replace Duhon and it's doable or wait until after the draft and swap out the 2008 pick with 2009 pick. There have never been trades to my knowledge that have happened prior to the draft which involved expiring contracts of the prior season.

I think this trade can be done if legal. There would have to be other compensation involved. Larry Hughes does have 2yrs left on his deal and the Bulls may negotiate something with Gordon in a S&T.

if we dont draft Rose I would offer Duhon a large part of the MLE. He is not staying in Chi. He could be like Ward (only with PG skills)
