HoopsHype is reporting that the Bobcats are losing a lot of money, mainly due to their low attendance. This is bad timing since Okafor is looking for at least $12 million per season in the upcoming contract negotiations. This is especially tough since they are already paying Gerald, Richardson, Carrol, and Nazr a combined $33 million per season (with nobody expiring for at least THREE more seasons!). It doesn't stop as the Cats are going to have to make a decision on Ray Felton a year from now as well (and you know he'll demand something around $8 million a la Jameer Nelson, even though he's not worth it).

jordan just added a ton of payroll with jrich and nazr - smart move <ahem>

looks like emeka ain't gonna get his $60 mil from charlotte (a team they should just contract).

place your bids...

Love the suberbs and city of Charlotte, but they don't deserve a bball team. They don't know how to support them nor bring them up, and their is no way they can help themselves unless they get lucky and make the playoffs and make themselves known a little bit more. Otherwise, they can't build themselves a team.

Charlotte like many expansion teams are based on corp support. It takes a while for a team to build support as its just an "event". I went to alot of hornet games and it was amazing how many in attendance would leave early even in a good game.

When they were winning they lead the team in attendance. Thats why they got a new franchise.

George Shinn was a bad owner and a sleeze ball whose management got lucky with two no.1 picks in row. They had Kobe at 13 but he stated he would play in Italy than go to Charlotte.

Bottom line is it is a good basketball city but they need to be relevant and build fan interest than being a dormat. The Hornets finally draw well in New ORleans which is not easy task largely due to WINS!!!!!(only in NYC can you be in the tip 1/3rd of attendance with a 23 win team)

Sean May and Ray Felton while UNC players have yet to impact the team nor their marketablilty.

Also bad TV deals and a failed network has not helped regional coverage of the games.

Jordan sucks as an exec.

They should bring in Larry Brown. He has a lot of Cred in that town and would help that young team.

I don't know about THAT now. "Larry Brown" and "young team" don't exactly mix, IMO.

I've always like Raymond Felton...... maybe we could get him if we gave the Cats some cap relief.

Well I am wondering why, actually I'm not, that the team is losing money. Jordan is a ****ing idiot and it pains me to see all these guys like Jordan, McChale, Bird, Isiah ruining franchises because they don't have any concept on how to build a winner in this league.

You have Noah, Wright, Young on the board all promising talent, and you give up cap room for JRich, long term overpaid contract. Or you trade for Nazi. Scola was given away to a conference opponent as was Kurt Thomas, rent a player and keep your cap room.

If we did a sign and trade with them for Okafur we would have to really give away every young guy on the team. Moving Lee of Okafur makes sense if we can move Curry, but I doubt it happens.
