Don't we have enough small guards? I'd take Mayo over Westbrook.

can he do anything else well other than dunk the ball in people's faces? those dunks were straight nasty but we really need more skill players than we do freakish athletes at this point.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

pros and cons

Defensive player of the year in Pac 10[locked down OJ mayo 3 times this year including one game where OJ had 10 turnovers]
nearly a 7ft wingspan and NBA elite type athleticism in the mold of shawn marion josh smith etc... probably has the best lateral quickness in the draft
speed up and down the court and also with the ball
the ability to play and defend both guard positions
the ability to get to the hole seemingly at will for a high % shot
Solid passer and rebounder

cons
strong yet slender [could be over-matched by big 2 guards especially in the post]
outside shot and mechanics are poor/ not an NBA 3 point threat decent mid range game [shot needs refinement]
height 6-3
needs to utilize dribble drive game[as he can get there at will with great first step] more to get to the foul line where he needs to improve %
Half-court game needs work If a team plays a zone or a swarming half-court D and really cut down driving lanes--his skills are not there yet to compensate other than a pass.

Overall
He would bring an element to the team it has not had in a long time. A guy who can lock down the opponents PG and or 2G. A guy who can seemingly get to the hole at will and should be able to get better at doing that as he adds more core strength. A player who has incredible speed quickness and full court abilities both ways. He would need development time with his shot--his outside simply is not at NBA standards/level or even close to it IMHO. BUT he can hit the occasional 12 footer and should get better at that. Remember Dwayne Wade and Lebron weren't the best shooters yet both improved.
Very TOUGH guy with a LOT of heart who played for a very good team with a tough coach. A guy who brings tremendous amount of intangible s the NY knicks lack. He IS NOT on the same level as Eric Gordon or Bayless offensively[although he is not a slag there either] it's the combination benefit of his two way play that make him more attractive after advanced viewing of him.

I'd grab him to play the point. Enough 6-3 SG's. I may even be able to deal with shorter guy built solidly but short and slight is killer.

Those Dunks were sick. Just pure explosion in stride. He was supposed to do that rather than just pray for a foul. Nice.....Are we looking at Devin Harris? Harris is a nice player with decent size but he isn't really a point guard or a shooting guard. Monta Ellis? Cuttino Mobley back in the day?

Westbrook imho is better than Eric Gordon I tell you that.

After Steve Francis was named a franchise player because he could jump real high, I stopped being excited by dunks. Nearly Everyone in the NBA is capable of this.

the thing I like about Westbrook is his defense.
some Knick fans accept mediocrity as excellence .... I don't!

thanks for the breakdown... where do u think the kid will be picked & do u think it's worth trading the assets it would take to acquire a pick to get him?
