and will be available later in the draft. He shot 62% from the field, runs the floor better, isnt soft, will play with his back to the basket and when he matures can block shots. Randolph has no feel for the game, great athlete, turns the ball over all the time and takes bad shots. Lopez shoots 46% from the field and doesnt want to mix it up. When workouts begin Lopez will drop

Do you mean McGee by McHale? If so, i beg to differ. McGee blocks shots, which tells you he plays better d, and does the other things better. Can Speights make the outside shot? Is his only offense his post moves? Isn't the NBA moving towars the faster big man? Just a few questions

McGee blocks one shot more per game in a donkey conference when Speights is playing with men. Speights was a better rebounder than McGee and has a lot of upside to his game. If he stays in the draft he will shoot up the boards when workouts begin.

I've never seen Speights play but judging from those game stats he pretty much got a double double while playing considerably a less amount of minutes than any other starter in the game.
He also had the most rebounds and was like the only person from his team to go to the stripe while shooting nice% of free throws. Seems like a DLee type. Randolph had a much better game, but played like 10 more minutes.

Speights is a VERY intriguing player to me. Its too bad we can't get a mid-round pick. I don't love this draft from 3 to 12 or so, but there are lot of intriguing players in the 13-20 range.

Hansbrough will have a better career than Mcgee also. Playing hard is a talent and Tyler plays harder than anyone in the country. If he gets on the right team he will average about 9 boards a game on will. I think the McGee and Randolph are fine from pick 12-18 but not a lottery pick. Neither one of those players will help you at all next year.

Wow. I think you are discounting physical abilities that translate well at the NBA level. Mcgee is 7+ with a 7-6 wingspan and very skilled. You cant teach that. He'll be great if he wants to be great--it's simple math he can play over most people heads and hes very skilled. Tyler is a very good player--but will his skills translate the same in the pro game? If you are counting on who will help the most in year 1 then you mustve been in the Channing frye club over Bynum--I mean Bynum scked and Channing frye was the next Tim Duncan who helped AZ to the final four.

As for Speights--I knew he would come out but he is not as skilled as Randolph--Randolph has a unique ability to handle the ball for his size with tremendous speed and a nice touch. I read that speights was a prima dona and asked out of many games. He's got red flags on his back imho.

I totally agree with everything you said. Speights has to grow up but do you ever go wrong with a florida inside guy? Tyrus thomas and Swift is stealing money in the league. Tyler will figure out how to get things done and be a solid player. I am saying Randolph and Mcgee are 12-18 picks not 7-12 picks.

Of course, McGee’s mother knows a little more about basketball than the average parent. Former U.S. Olympian and WNBA star Pam McGee already has a nickname for her high-flying, shot-blocking son: The Big Secret.

“If you talk to any pro scouts, they will tell you JaVale is probably the most skilled 7-footer in the country, one of the most skilled 7-footers in the world,” Pam McGee told reporters at a news conference Monday after her rather shy son briefly and quietly thanked Nevada’s coaches and fans for helping to make his dream come true.

“We are at the point now to ask, not is he a pro, but what kind of pro, what type of a pro will he become?” she said, adding that NBA scouts have told her his skill set is “70 percent better than most NBA guys who have a job today.”

The 7-foot-1 JaVale McGee became known this year for his thundering dunks, behind-the-back passes in traffic and Western Athletic Conference-leading 2.8 blocked shots per game. He averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds, while shooting 53 percent from the field and 33 percent from 3-point range

Pam McGee, now a high school coach and teacher in Sacramento, led Southern California to two NCAA titles and won a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics. She reminded reporters on Monday she went professional the same year Michael Jordan did.

“I have insights that other people don’t have,” she said. “I have long-term friends who are now general managers and owners.”

“When I talk to them, they basically give me an honest opinion that my son is a stock option. They understand he is going to be a pro and there is no limit on what he can do,” she said

LaVale McGee has hired Roosevelt Barnes and Eugene Parker at Maximum Sports Management as his agents.

“You might as well know, they are calling him the `Big Secret,’ Pam McGee said. “So the secret is out. He’s the Big Secret.”

He played against tyler and in 26 minutes 26/8 was scored by the midget Hansbrough and Mchale had 14 and 7, remember you just used the same argument for Randolph against Speights

He started playing too late and isnt done growing so I cant compare him to players who are at their physical peak and I dont want to compare him to guys that should be picked 1-2. Only luck will put us 1-2--we have to do the homework for what comes after that. I want high end ceiling players.

Also---Ill say this--Shane Battier===David Lee--not same position but same type of player steady consistent good worker etc.. Jerry West had the cahones to trade him for pick 7 and take Rudy gay who is now looking like an NBA all star and is all of 22. It takes cahones insight and confidence in what you do. If we settle for what we have now--thats what we will be. That is why i think the first person to go should be Isiah--he should have no imput--I mean what is he going to say bad about the players he acquired?

Not sure the NBA will allow Thabeet to wear Stickem-gloves....
