Ward is done as a Knick w the buyout

Vranes is not even remotely ready for nBA basketball--he's going back for atleast 2-3 seasons.

Sign Lampe for 3 years and 3 mm--let him develop

Sweetney and Frank will be rotation players that command solid minutes.

Lastly and just as imperative, we need a wing athlete who can grow with the team who doesnt necessarily need serious PT right away. Im very very impressed with Marquis daniels. He's been the best player in the SL --obviously underestimated in the draft. Id like to see us sign him right off the Mavericks summer squad for a 3 year 2.4mm$ contract. He's very athletic can rebound and pass. he averaged 25 points 5 rebounds and 5 assits forthe Maverick SL team. He shot 52% at Auburn his senior year averaging almost 20 points and 6 rebounds. This is a player who can take Postell's spot as the wing player in waiting--but there is no doubt this player is much better than postell in every facet.

I do like Daniels and I would love to take him from that dallas roster, but I ask why do you think Vranes is no where near NBA ready? you are not judging by tonights performance, are you? If that is the case then Lampe is not ready either. Anyway I do agree by signing Lampe and keeping vranes, I would give him Knights minutes in a heartbeat. The guy is 7'6 and moves extremely well...

Well, it's a bit early to make these kinds of assessments. The Knicks were playing their first game against a Milwaukee team that had already been playing together for a week in another summer league.

I think we're all feeling good about FW's progress--- this was his best performance in a Knicks uniform. Distressing, however, was the poor shooting of the Knicks team outside FW and Sweetney. Didn't see the game, so there are 2 schools of thought: 1) FW didn't get the ball to his teammates in good spots. 2) The Knicks had open looks, but nothing was falling (thus taking away lots of potential assists away from FW)

Sweetney had a solid game 1 performance. We can only hope for better things in the future.

Lampe had a rather poor stat line--- his Polish countryman on the Bucks nearly equalled his output... in half the minutes! I expect his production to improve drastically over the course of the next two weeks of summer league. He's getting an education in NBA-style sets and against more mature, hungry (starving?!) NBA-wannabes who are willing to do anything to impress their teams. I suppose we can afford to take things slow with him in the early-going.

McCaskill seemed to do okay--- the thing is... even if we signed him, how would we make room on our roster to fit him?

Vranes sounds like he'll be heading home to Europe. If he doesn't make improvements, I think the Knicks will settle with letting him develop a little bit. Perhaps 2 years from now, he'll be ready for 15mpg stiff contributions. :)

Also, where was Ugonna? I thought he Wasgonna be on the box score. :)

did you see the highlights of him? it took me 2 seconds to realize he is WAY off i mean years away from doing anything at the NBA level. He needs atleast two years of work on strengthening his body and game. he can do that overseas. we dont need to take a roster spot up for that. lampe on the other hand has proven he can play at a very high level while playing with Brand etc.. in Chicago and playing well forhis spanish team. vranes is just tall lampe is a good YOUNG basketball player.

A guy that is 7'6 and moves as well as he does can at least be used in games to add a shot blocking presence or some presence inside, for christ sakes we give minutes to Travis knight and even one year gave significant minutes to Felton spencer..got damn!! I mean this guy should at least get some of their minutes.

What do you want to do. Sign mark pope again to take up the final roster spot. I say let the kids stay...

The knicks have nothing but time to develop him!!!

Well the signifikant difference between Szewczyk and Lampe is that Szymon was a starter and go-to guy at one of the better german first league teams! (His team played in the play-offs and was really good!) While Lampe played in the spanish second league and not for Madrids first team most of the time!!!
Second he is older and has more experience!!!

Give those kids time to develope they are young and motivated!!!
GO Frank!!! GO Sweets!!!
I want some young blood in our line up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny how age becomes a factor with these Euro-teens. But then again, from a realistic standpoint, Lampe is a 2nd round pick. If he turns into something special, then it's a big win. If he doesn't make it, we didn't invest too much in him. (That's assuming that Bogans/Walton/Kapono don't become solid players!)

Szewczyk (sp) is undoubtedly a much more accomplished player than Lampe, but scouts regard Lampe as having much higher upside if he keeps improving at this rate. I'm still hopeful for Lampe. His stats after game 2 were twice as good as game 1 in fewer minutes. Maybe in the 3rd game, he'll go 3/7 or 4/7 from the field. :)

It's an odd thing, but these Euro players have a tendency to show major improvement over their first few seasons. It's programmed in their heads from their coaching/training that their games will grow with maturity and practice.

I think that more often than not, what you see is what you get with american players--- rarely do you see players turn it around after a slow 1st year. Notice that most players nominated for most improved players are guys who simply got more playing time, not players whose production has improved exponentially.
