"Getting through New York in 1993 was tougher than getting past Detroit in 1991. The Knicks were much better defensively than those Piston teams. And it was a more brutalizing series. But the Knicks had only two scorers, Patrick Ewing and John Starks. So they had to dive for balls and work hard for everything. They totally understood that. It was a war."

- Michael Jordan from the book "Rare Air - Michael On Michael"

I don't know about the rest of you.... but as a Knick fan, that makes me pretty motha ****in proud.

That right there is what every loser on this team needs to learn....

Respect has to be earned. If you hustle and play great D you can hang with the best of them

The early 90's Knicks would have kicked the **** out of Isiah's supposed Bad Boys.

That's not saying that they would have won, but the Knicks were stronger and tougher. Can you picture Laimbeer trying to intimidate Ewing, Oak or Mase?

i dunno if u can take that to heart so much since Jordan has a known grudge against Isiah... i don't see how he can say it was tougher to get through the Knicks when his team beat us everytime we played them & the Pistons beat his team on their way to the Finals.

either way, i don't take much solace in Jordan's words here, we came up short against him & he caused many heartbreaking defeats that i will never forget.

Face it, Ewing had the misfortune, just as Ewing, Starkton, Barkley etc, of playing in the same era (and in Ewing's case the same Conference) as Michael Jordan.

Regardless I'm pretty proud of my Knicks regardless if they won zilch since '73. Isiah's comment is up there with Marbury's everyone's a loser and they can both stuff it.

The bulls were at their prime when the KNicks were at their 90's best.

The pistons were cooked by then.

Jordan hates Isiah.

I miss the Ewing years but also remember how offensively challanged we were and the starphuch trades we made with quality guy/s at the end of their runs.

It was fun, frustrating at times, but spring time was the playoffs.

I remember house shopping and once kept a old 12 inch Tv in my trunk with a folding chair and if the knicks were on I'd park it on someones deck and watch while my wife walked the property.

I have not watched the last 25 games.

Don't matter.

I agree with what you are saying, but I believe the Jordan quote was focusing on the 91' Piston team that he and the Bulls swept. No way were the Knicks of the 90's better than the Piston teams that went to the finals 88-90. In fact, Riley stole the Pistons blueprint while putting together his Knick teams.
