This is what the Knicks need to do...

1) First and foremost, we must get a legitimate center

Whether it's Nestorovic, Miller, or a lesser center like Ratliff, Swift or Campbell... we have to get this done.

2) Get younger by clearing roster spots.... Sweetney and Frank Williams have to be on the court... if nothing else, to give Knicks fans something to live for. Seriously, they have to play... which means somewhere in the KT, Spoon, Harrington mix... some have to go. Of course we could just pay Knight to go away but, we all know those who can't be dealt.

3) Use Latrell Sprewell and possibly soon to be free agent KT to land the center we seek.

Roster spots must be cleared and they must be cleared immediately.

Pike....does this mean you don't want Speedy Claxton anymore.....if so I'm glad you changed your mind.

I agree with you on this one....the young guys have to play, whether it is by clearing spots on the roster, or just giving Williams and Sweetney playing time over the vets.

It would be a waste to just give the rooks burn over the vet players. Scott LayDown just has to find takers for some of the players rendered unnecessary after the draft and summer league (read: Eisley, Spoon, Knight).

If we are gonna make a trade for a center.... what Knicks players would those teams want?

I'll try a few ideas on RealGM before I mention them here.... I want to make sure the numbers work.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

NY needs to continue picking up the pieces: The draft should have satisfied our hunger to rebuild with youth. And Willis Reed coming back home should add extra punching selection for what Pike mentioned NY has desperately needed 4 seasons ago.

And if we could add another piece to this puzzle, I'm all for adding say LJ, if he is interested, in some kind of coaching advisor for teaching youth how to be effective on the inside. And you know Willis and Chaney will be right there.

Pike I agree 100% with letting sweetney and Williams play. I was impressed with their numbers today, although summer league, still nice to see. Lampe should be worked in with some meaningful minutes and for the love of god reduce spoons minutes. Othella and Doleac should split limited time. I know many don't want to do this but we are not going anywhere with this bunch so we need to let these guys get experience right now..

Trading spree and Kt is fine, but from what I hear there are not many takers so far. I don't know if I believe that but we will see...

Nesto is pretty much taken, Miller is a looooooong shot. We could "settle" for the last 3, but it may be worth the Knicks to sign these guys for shorter contracts. But do you want to bother with signing these guys when next year, many Knick contracts are expiring and the team will have alot of cap room. Also, if we're going to go after a Center, make sure the guy's better than KT.
2) Get younger by clearing roster spots.... Sweetney and Frank Williams have to be on the court... if nothing else, to give Knicks fans something to live for. We've been trying to trade away "excess" but nobody wants them!
3) Use Latrell Sprewell and possibly soon to be free agent KT to land the center we seek.
Well we've been trying to trade Spree for over a year and there are no takers. Alot of teams are interested in KT, but until we get a C, KT's our best C. Just to note: Latrell has a player opt after next season and KT has a team opt after next season.

Like I said stop with the fake trades already this is who we got, nobody wants to help this once and mighty franchise rise up to soon from the dead. MSG was a hard place to win in and all the teams in the NBA remember that. Stop the madness now!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Andrew, based on last year... we had to consider Claxton... it was an unfortunate neccessity. Knicks fans would be dropping dead in the streets if they had to endure another year of Eisley and Ward. That being said, to say Frank Williams is showing the lottery pick promise he had after his sophomore season, is quite realistic. Things change and I want to see Frank our starting point guard to open the season.
