That's great news. Patrick made the Knicks a winning team for most of his years here. I wish the front office could have gotten him another star, so we could have gone all the way, but we did have good years with him.

Its pretty fitting that he and the Dream go in at the same time. Along with Mr. Robinson, those 3 were really the last of the traditional back to the basket pivots who could play 2 ways (Shaq is a bit of a different breed- a pure power/athleticism offensive player who didn't need an array of moves in the pivot). It's really sad that these days you hardly see a drop step like Patrick's or a the "Dream Shake" a la Hakeem. They had the kind of finesse and footwork in the post that pretty much no one in the NBA has right now.

In this era of only bad news for Knicks fans, this is a nice ray of light. It's real nice to see Patrick where he belongs now, and if he comes to New York to be a big man coach (For anyone) I'd be absolutely exstatic.

Elite, I think that's Ewing blocking Pippens shot.

No, that is a pretty famous picture of Ewing get a pretty nasty facial from Pippen....I agree, I'd rather see some highlights instead of that and Ewing in a Sonics and Magic uni...

It's not ment to be disrespectful......thats a famous pic of Pat Rwing.......if anything it shows the battles Ewing went through. Pippen put everything he had in this dunk and he let it out on the finish by standing over him and taunting him. Oakley or somebody I remember immediately pushed off Pippen and Ewing also pushed Pippens legs and took exception. It's an awesome pic.

Man, watching old clips depresses me sometimes. The knicks, hell the whole nba will never be as good as it was back then. Congrats #33.

The Magic uni should be taken out.

Ewing is the man and will always be the man. The last great Knick of our lifetime. Will we ever have another? I don't know but Pat bled orange and blue. I can't say the same thing about these fools.

To Patrick Ewing - the greatest Knick of all-time!

Congratulations Ewing!!
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Congrats to Patrick for his induction to the HOF today!

We never won the title, but we were amongst the best in the NBA during most of his prime. Sure, Hakeem was a better player, but as the Ewing-apologist story goes, we never had a 2nd or 3rd option comparable to title winning teams.

For as good as Starks was even Cassell was a better clutch performer, then tack on Robert Horry's clutch shooting and you have two titles to the Rockets. If we had managed to get to Phoenix in 1993 I think we had match ups, like Ewing on Mark West, that we could have exploited enough to win.

The one time we get to the Finals our best player is not the best or able to dominate at his position. Of course, the Bulls were just a machine, and Jordan-Pippen + clutch role players made them pretty much unbeatable, so to think of as well as we did given the team we had I think there is little to be ashamed of but considering the expectations it's hard to forget that.

I wasn't really following the Knicks when Ewing was drafted, so I didn't have that same feeling. I heard it later from the media and other fans, but I didn't really start watching until 1988, when we were swept by the Celtics. I remember on the old, paltry NY Times sports page they used to have a little cartoon in the top corner.

After the Knicks either lost in the first round to Boston 3-0, or were down 2-0, there was one of the Celtics either sweeping or some kind of action towards the Knicks. That was one of my first memories of the team, although I used to watch the games on channel 9, along with Ranger games, when SportsChannel used to play a few games a year off of cable (which I didn't have). It was in 1988-89 that I really started to follow more, with Pitino in charge.

Anyway, Ewing was pretty much one of my sports heroes growing up, and I have probably mentioned this on the old NY Times forum, but after we lost to Indiana in 1995 I wrote a poem of support for Ewing. That was major heartbreak, man, remembering that was one bad day.

Black Hole offense sure, but a Warrior too.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

I'm happy for Patrick. I hope we can bring him back where he belongs.

How great is it that he goes in with Riley and Olajuwon?

Congratulations to Patrick. A great warrior, teammate and human being. It is great to see the clips that fueled the passion that used to rule my life before James Dolan took over.
