Look, if we can get Beasley or Rose, great ! If not, I hope we can buy out the dead wood (Big Snacks, Mardy Mouse) and acquire a late 1st, early 2nd. Draft would look something like this.

1 DJ Augustin
2 Joey Dorsey
3 Brandon Rush

So, in one night, you get a smart leader for the team (a guy in the mold of Terrell Brandon), an enforcer that will block shots (Ben Wallace type), smooth "2" who has size, defensive ability/inclination.

These latter 2 picks can be bought or cheaply acquired if recent drafts are any indication. I realize none of the 3 are perfect prospects (Augustin lacks size, Dorsey has no offensive game & Rush has prev injury concerns). But all 3 are "winners". We have such a team of losers where heart, pride, hoops IQ is bottom of the barrel. These 3 guys start to change the culture.

The players that are not physically ready for the NBA i.e Randolph Mcgee and Westbrook are much more attractive that a guy like Augstin or Rush imho. I would rather wait on a guy to develop his body[a guy who has some elite type of part to his game] rather than a fully built player who has a lower ceiling. Those guys are all 15 pounds and refined skills away from being what they can be in the NBA--but I would rather pick them comapred to others[again depending on where we pick] and bring them along slowly. All 3 of these players would greatly benefit with another year in school becuse of their body types but at the same instance you have to look at upside with our team. Guys like Mayo Gordon Bayless--those guys already have NBA bodies so what you see is probably what you get or close to it.
This is a great draft and there is no doubt about it[in my mind] that there will be MORE than 1 star in this draft so you dont want to walk away with a an avegare type player. Swing for the fences here and IF they can't or wont pay Nate Lee or Crawford long term--pick the one you dont want to keep and move him for the highets pick you can. They are going to have to start now if their main goal is cap room+ having a played fully developed to his potential in 3 years.

I just feel like the primary problem with this team personnel wise is that they are a collection of selfish, weak hearted, weak minded players. In a word, they lack character. I just thought that getting a front court player that is the opposite of Eddy Fat Ass, getting playmaking point guard that we've lacked since Jackson, getting a pro ready (albeit somewhat low ceiling) guy like Rush is the 1st step away from the players we've come to know & hate.

But I do see your point.

I think those are players you look at in the 20-30 range. We need try to parlay our pick into a potential star even if it ends up a whiff.

I think I will be really happy with Rose, thank you Mr. Commissioner, as our pick and trading Curry and ZBo away. This lineup would do wonders...

C-Randolph Morris
PF-DLee
SF-The Mayor
SG-Craword
PG-Rose

Bench - Balkman, Nate and JJ Skinny.

Then hire Action Jackson as HC. Hopefully, Mark can get Crawford that he can be the next Reggie Miller and just run through screens all game long for easy shots.

Hey...if we get a 1 or 2, then disregard the post. But if we fall into the 5+ range, then I want to start with solid people, winners.

Randolph Morris isnt going to be anything in this league. He would be good to play 40 minutes down the stretch if we want to ensure ping pong balls. Maybe the Knicks should consider moving Chandler to shooting guard and trade Crawford and his 10mm per for an ending contract + a pick so we can keep Lee.

NYK - now you talkin' my language!

The beauty of The Mayor at 6'8 is that as he works on his defense he can slide over and play off guard which presents a different matchup problem for the opposing guards that normally roast and toast our beloved Knicks.

Now, go give me Derrick Rose (to balance the shot attempts when Jamal goes cold and manage the floor) or give me death!

I agree but I view him as a stop gap right now. Unless we get someone a little better a young big that can supposedly rebound and alter some shots is good enough for next year. Unless you want to go with JJ Skinny at the 5 or DLee at 5 and Balkman at 4. We would need to be running and gunning and using a full court press defense. Mardy can then be added to that mix.

Outside of Beasley....Gordon or Mayo if they're on the board when we pick

In no particular order from that point on, if we could get another pick

Billy Walker
WestBrook
D.J. White
CDR
Dorsey
Augustin
Bayless

I actually like our core players of DLee, Balkman, The Mayor and to some extent Crawford if he can accept that he needs to tone down his And1 mix tape moves. I think they need a PG that will get them the ball ala CP3 or Deron Williams. I think that Nate might need to be moved as well.

NYK - if Donnie can get so lucky as Dave DeBusschere, the entire Knicks equation changes with a thinking lead guard like Rose.

Notice where he makes the pass.

sheesh

Brandon Rush may not be Kobe Bryant, but what a fundamentally sound, big 2 who gives you outstanding defense, a perimeter shot that is never forced & some nice finishing ability around the hoop.

Agreed on Dorsey and Augustin but I'm not too high on Rush. I want Dorsey with a 2nd rounder. The guy is a beast. Ben Wallace 2.0.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I was an Augustin fan for much of the year, but after watching him in the tournament I've changed my mind.

The tournament doesn't change talent.

The tournament shouldn't have changed people's mind that much from the results. I think fans have to understand coaches can be just as guilty as the players for not performing up to their abilities. Augustin really on had one bad game against a very good Memphis team. Texas' coach didn't prepare his team well at against them. He had Augustin penetrating into a huge Memphis front court with no shooters on the floor while his teammates never gave him good passing lanes to kick the ball out to or drop off to. Augustin played in a competitive conference this season and played well enough to receive All-American honors. He dropped 6DIMES and 6ASSIST this season on a team who more than likely won't have anyone jumping to the pros besides himself. His team also made it to the Elite 8 from a #2 Seed.

Case in point Jameer Nelson played point on St. Joseph who went to the tournament as a number 1 seed in 2004. They ended up making it to the Elite 8 and lost to Oklahoma State. Nelson shot 33% but dropped 8DIMES and 8ASSIST that game. Jameer was selected as the 20th pick of the 2004 draft by Denver and traded to Orlando. Isn't Jameer currently the starting point guard for a 3rd seed Orlando team who'll win 50gms more than likely this season? Their numbers are eerily similar from college and Augstin is a bout 2 inches taller than Nelson.

If we had an extra pick late to mid first round I wouldn't be mad if we walked away with say Gordon/O.J. and Augustin somehow.

I'd be happy if we could just have Kobe, LeBron, Duncan, Carmello, Wade, Dirk, Nash, Yao, McGrady, Garnette, Pierce, Allan, Bynum, Howard and Paul. That's not asking for too much.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Dorsey probably wouldn't go past Detroit.

DJ Augustin doesn't have enough potential to warrent a top 5 pick. He doesn't have enough potential to be a top 10 pick. Tj Ford & Jameer Nelson are comparable players. Ford was taken #8, Nelson was taken #20.

Right now I would go
Rose
Beasley
Mayo
Mcgee
Randolph
Thabeet
Bayless
Westbrook
