Absolutely still get under the cap as far as we can and see if we can sign LeBron, Wade, Bosh or Melo. We're going to need a solid foundation if we're going to sign one of those guys. That means some good young players and role players.

If we can add Rose, another top lottery pick next year and either a top UFA or a couple of really good ones, we've got a chance to contend.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

That's exactly what Phoenix did and what we should try to do. They had some outstanding players on rookie deals (Amare and Marion), making them both a good team that appealed to FAs and a team with cap room. Then they signed an FA who would become the league MVP and make them legit contenders every year.

Why would anyone not try to get LeBron, Wade, Bosh or Anthony? If we have a chance to get a franchise or near franchise player, we have to take it. Those chances don't come up very often.

It wasn't that long ago that we had Patrick Ewing for a long stretch. But because we didn't have a second star, we never went all the way. We were close, and that was nice, but there's a big difference between being close and being champions. Starks and Oakley helped a lot, but we needed a second franchise or near franchise player and we couldn't come up with one.

I wonder how lebron will play with a top flight PG who will have the ball in his hands a lot... If we land rose, get another good pick next year, other than lebron, I like bosh a lot.. wade by then may be too broken down physically....

Derrick Rose has controlled the ball a lot in the tournament, but during the regular season that couldn't be further from the truth.

So we bypass LeBron, hope for Rose and count on the mayor?

That is not a sure thing. That is isiah thinking and some have adopted isiah thinking very well.

If' we don't get Rose and the mayor dissapoints, would you think we should of did everything possible to get LeBron? Probably not' huh?

I hope Walsh holds out for two seasons. I hope he trades no one, let's the money ride. Let's this team do whatever it wants to do for two more years and then evaluate what his options are then.

There is nothing to fix for two years. Any trades just puts us all back to square one. it will never change. I mean NEVER.
I'll never trust this' team again.

You guys are in the right frame of thinking. As long as you have a foundation and the money is straight, then we'll always have a chance to sign that one more major piece to make us into major contenders. But you must always maintain that foundation and keep the money good to have that chance.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Yes and a new foundation was never instilled and grown on to get another star to be competative again. Instead the money was poorly invested and we been crashing ever since. The Knicks are just a place to come and make a kiling. sometimes, you don't even have to play the game to make the bucks here. Best job to have in the whole world. You don't even need pride. Just do nothing and the money will come in guaranteed. Oh' and if they wanna get rid of you, you'll still make a killing.

Knick pride. What a bunch of fools we've been.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I watched rose all year, I know he played off the ball a lot at memphis, but in the NBA anyteam that drafts him I feel will want him to have the ball in his hands a lot... I just wonder if that is the kind of player that needs to be paired with lebron...

Anyone ask if Kevin Garnette, Paul Pierce or Allan should be paired together? Look at them now!

Maybe someone should've asked if Curry, Zach, starbury, James should've been paired together. But to question whether LeBron and Rose should be paired together is kinda silly. So far, LeBron hasn't been paired with anyone else (star caliber) in Cleveland and they clearly are barely going anywhere. Let's hope it stays that way for a few more years.
