I am not sure how much Mark gives back to the community but I can personally reference my experience with him. In the late 80's my father was a superintendent of schools for a childrens' institution in Dobbs Ferry. Mark was asked to come speak at graduation. He did this and was very inspiring and humble. He never received any accolades or even recognition for this. For many of these kids it may have been one of the most memorable moments in their lives. The year he did this was a down year for Mark personally ( Strickland and Stu) but this did not effect how motivational he was. When I think of ball players with character I always think of that day and hardly anyone knows about this because of the audience and school that he spoke at. Here is another former knick with tremendous character.

I think Mark Jackson is a good guy, but I think this team needs a more experienced coach. We need someone who really knows what he is doing regarding developing young talent. Chandler, Lee, Crawford, Nate, and Balkman are all young players who need someone to show them how to take their games to the next level.

One time I was at a City College Pro-Am summer league game. Jackson was there, Mullin, Walter Berry, Shelton Jones, Jerry Ice renolds, and more.

The game was off the hook!

After the game, my father approached Mark Jackson's mother and asked her to say a few words to my friend and I about how Mark Jackson got to be so accomplished as a player. This was right after he made the all-star team in his second year.

Here is the funny part: He said to her "Please tell these little boys how...". We were in our mid-teens.

Mark Jackson's mother took offense to his calling us a "little boys". She put her arm around me and said, these are young men, not little boys. They need to think of themselves as men, and make decisions as men." She also said some other stuff, it was very nice and inspirational. And though she admonished my father in front of me, she did not degrade him in any way.

Mark Jackson comes from a good family, and his behavior as a professional and a person has been outstanding.

i want to get through the draft and make some deals before thinking about a coach
and if all we can talk about is his family
thats a short and non supportive resume

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

we can not make a change at coach
thats an unpopular option but not really a bad one
Ewing is out there at least he has some experience
we can go with williams he has plenty of experience and has been with the team along time
