1998 Al Harington pick 25
1999 Vontegoo Cummings pick 25
2000 Primo Brezec Pick 27--
2001 Acquireed the draft pick from Memphis Pick 27
2002 Fred Jones pick 13
2003 Pick 21 surrendered for Jammal Tinsley trade James Jones second round
2004 pick 30 David Harrison Pick 30
2005 pick 17 Danny Granger
2006 Pick 17 Shawne Williams

No real high picks to deal with. Paased on a umber of players that raneg from Tony Parker Gil Arenas Mike Redd Carlos Boozer Monta Ellis etc...as players they may have targeted with their late round picks.

From what I would see I would grade this at a B- Some good players from tough picking positions but missed on some late round players[and their pool ws late] that turned into all stars. The highest pick Fred Jones was a reach and that is why taking combo guards are a real risk high in the lottery.

Every single team in the league passed on Tony Parker, Arenas, Redd, Boozer and Ellis,
when all of them should have been top 8 picks.
What does that prove?

Briggs this doesent say much, name one GM who's draft record u can pull up that looks great over a 10 year span.

Most gms draft record will look bad, this one looks decent... ill take it.

They got a pretty good player about half the time. That's all you can ask for when your average pick is #22. (That's the average of the ten picks.) He must be doing something right if they're picking THAT late in the 1st round every year!

As you said Briggs.. no real high picks to deal with. I would say the Al Harrington and Danny Granger picks were both excellent draft picks.

Judging from Walsh's past he has an excellent eye for talent in trades(JOneal, Artest, Brad Miller) and I don't think it'll be any different when it comes to him drafting.

"Honest" Walsh has put himself on the line by stating that he can't miss on this draft. It'll be interesting to see what he does with the pick if its not top 3. By saying he can't miss, it leads me to believe he'll play it safe and go big.

Those two were great draft picks and the rationale seems justifiable even for the ones that didn't work out. You have pick #30, it reasonable to take a gamble on a 7 footer like Harrison. You have pick #21 and don't like what's available, it reasonable to trade for a guy with good PG skills (Tinsley). (I don't know anything about that Vontegoo guy though!)
