P.J. Brown will re-sign with the Hornets. Thank god, we don't need him, but of course, Layden thought he could use him.

Just like we could use Eisley, Anderson, Weatherspoon, Knight, Doleac.... need I go on?

Blessing in disguise folks. Blessing in disguise.

Yeah, blessing it is, man...

I didn't want Puss-Juice Brown anyways... We'd be better off looking elsewhere for talent that will help our team.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I kind of don't think the Knicks are going to sign anyone, esp. if the rookies perform reasonably well during the summer leagues.

Sprewell
Houston
Thomas
Eisley
Doleac
Knight
Harrington
'Spoon
Anderson

That's 9 players.

We also have to deal with having:
Frank Williams and Sweetney

Now we're at 11 players.

Then there's Lampe and Vranes.

Bam. 13.

And we haven't discussed what's happening to Ward.

I suppose Vranes (if signed) can start on the IR with a strained something or other, or an inflamed something or other. And Knight can get the "I got no game" bench exemption.

McDyess already takes up 1 slot on the IR.

So where exactly are we going to squeeze in any free agents?

I think a trade would be necessary to squeeze anyone else on this packed team. Even if Ugonna is the next Shawn Marion, we'd need to make some kind of roster move to make his addition possible.

If anyone should be traded first... it should be Spoon. He makes less money than Othella and has a longer contract. Sweetney is the same type player but younger and better. Knight can go too- I would rather see Ugonna in that spot that Knight just taking up space on our roster and cap. Picking up Vranes also make Knight expendable.

The problem is that we don't have a whole lot of desirable players at the right price.

'Spoon, Anderson, and Eisley are all decent players--- they're just earning too much to be worth anything, except perhaps on the last years of their contracts or if they're packaged with a desirable guy.

Other teams probably regard Thomas highly--- he's a tough defensive player w/ above average offensive skills... who actually has a reasonable contract.

Sprewell and Houston are both very good players--- but already have max-type contracts and are over 30... so WYSIWYG with them. I can see either being traded for some young underperforming players w/ big contracts, perhaps along the lines of Tim Thomas, or perhaps for aging big men (a la Dale Davis).

The guess would have to be that for a trade to happen, Thomas (who also happens to be our best big man right now) would be included.

McDyess could also be traded near the deadline, for teams looking to dump salary. The Knicks might be able to get some young guys in exchange for his cap relief.
