Everyone is talking about drafting Lopez for next year. Do you really think we can trade Zach or Eddy? Is Dolan going to write a 90 million check to buy them out? We need to reconfigure this team but a part of it will be letting contract expire, and being one of the worst teams in the league again next year. We need to get a guard this year and a guard or a wing next year and go from there. We are stuck with Zach and eddy for a while so you nught as well get used to it.

If we have no other options and we continue to lose bad with one or both of those guys, we may have no other option than to rebuild. I remember someone said they'd rather have Isiah be the GM than the coach. Maybe they weren't reminded by when he signed JJ and JJ2 to the full MLE, traded Ariza for Steve Francis, drafted Frye over Bynum and traded him and Francis for Zach Randolf, not to mention that I don't remember the last time we had a second round pick.

You're probably right. I do think you could trade Eddy for a guard/SF who isn't very good and has an equal contract, although I haven't looked into who might qualify. I don't know if you can trade Zach under any circumstances but maybe he'd be willing to buy out one player.

I agree that trading Zach is almost impossible unless it's to Denver b/c I know the GM there likes him. However, I think you can get a little more for Curry b/c he can still be advertised as that big man with a lot of upside and just needs to be away from Isiah and the Knicks. I don't know how it can be done, but I'm sure there a couple of ways to get something valueable in exchange for Curry.

I agree we can probably move Eddy and not get complete garbage back, but clearly nowhere near what we gave up.

Zach is going to be an anchor to this organization.

Or anchored to this roster unless Dolan buys him out or takes back utter garbage back - I thought the deal the Bucks offered was horrible, and their GM got fired over it!

I think we'd be ok with either Zach or Eddy - but having both is killer

Having Zach or Eddie is OK if you're going to have an elite defensive frontcourt mate for them, along with 4 other guys who can shoot, pass and defend. It's not impossible, but building with or around one of them would be EXTREMELY difficult. Probably an 8 or 9 on a scale from 1-10.

That means squat. You take the player with the heighest ceiling available regardless of position. Eddy Curry also has knee surgery and who knows what will come of that. We need help at every position--also I hope they don't lock into any one player and let the draft process take it's course--unless we get the jackpot where we don't have to think about it.

Moving Eddie is easier and probably better for the team than moving Randolph. There are more defensive minded C's than PF's. It would be ideal if we could draft Rose and get another pick to draft Thabeet. We need the pick of Indiana, Sacramento or Portland.

I think Brock Lopez will be a good NBA player who puts up good stats. I don't see him as a player that will run your offense or defense though.

I think players like Deanre Jordan, Mcgee, & Thabeet have more potential to have a higher impact. I think they have potential to be great impact defensive players. I don't think Brock will be a impact offensive player or defensive player. I think Brock will get his stats, but I don't see him running an offense or defense as the main cog. I think Jordan, Mcgee, Thabeet have the athletism, build, characteristics to be able to run the defense from the paint.

No not untill 2010. Its top 20 protected next year. In 2010 it is unprotected. So in other words, our best shot of not giving up a premium pick at 2010 is getting a pick good enough this year and next year so that we can become a better team. So losing a lot next year would not be the worst thing in the world provided we are heading in the right direction. We lost a lot this year and didn't develop and added a ton of salary.

Shouldn't we be striving for these kind of players anyways? Seriously what do people expect when you have a roster that lacks a consistent shooter, no true point guard, or no shot-blocker. Its not about building around anyone its about building a serviceable basketball team.
Shouldn't

Lopez can shoot a good percentage in the soft Pac 10. He has half the skills of a Bogut and doesnt have the fludity athletically to be a great pro. He will get a GM fired while Thabeet in 5 years will be a defensive stopper. If I get the third pick I trade down and take Thabeet.

I believe we can slowly move both Zack and Eddy (and Jamal for that matter).
We need to take crap from other teams with shorter contracts. And there is a lot of crap in NBA.
It's very difficult task but with no wining in mind next 2-3 years this is doable.
Then we can wave this crap and carefully pick players which will feet with our high draft picks.
We need our new GM and coach to be good garbage mans.

u can have Zach be an effective part of your team but you're gonna need to bring in a shotblocking C, a defensive SF & a floor general, same as u would if u had Curry starting games (only instead of a C you'd need a shotblocking PF)
