they have a ton of cap space--we have an old team that will have trouble vying for an 8t seed.

Try something semi-bllsy if they get stoned in free agency

Kurt Thomas for a 2004 #1 pick. If they can swipe Kandiman and Miller

that would put them at
Kandi
Thomas
Kirielenko
Harpring
Miller
Ostertag
Bochardt/Collins
Pavlovich
Stevenson
Lopez

we dump Ward as well and save 15mm$ and pick up an extra 2004#1

I don't mind parting with Thomas, but I think his trade value will increase as the season goes on and especially towards the trade deadline (in lieu of playoffs). Wait until then.

i see it as quite the opposite....most teams will not trade their 1st for KT, especially Utah who lookis to be a lottery team.

I agree jaydh. Kurt Thomas is the now, that pick is the future. It looks like Utah is set to rebuild, so I don't think they will part with their future. Who's left on that team anyway? Who could we get back for Kurt player wise? Do we want Greg Ostertag? Is there anyone else worthy of consideration?

(Mind do I ask these without sarcasm. I am really out of the loop when it comes to the roster of the Jazz.)

Kt was one of the best players that played the Center spot in the East last year... he was a lotto pick - i'd say, hold onto KT - unless we could sign and trade for some good young star - Odom, etc.

Larry Miller the owner of the Jaz said they are not rebuilding. They have a nice set of players and the cap space they want to use on a top notch PF and PG. the thing is they are going to be stuck out IMHO from the the interior player. I think they can get miller and possibly Kandi but they would still have the money in cap space to take on KT who would be their only PF.

A lot of people under value KT. KT is a 14 and 10 player in 30mts and shoots 50% playing out of position. that is significant value and imsure with al of the bS that comes out of the knicks in terms of sprewell--id bet that quietly many teams have inquired about KT.

If the team could save 10.5mm dollars from KT and dump ward for another 4.5mm in savings and pick up even a restricted #1 to 5 pick in 2004-they would be going in the right direction. How many more young players do the Jazz need? They dont need anymore rookies!
While KT isnt Malone--in this market he is undervalued by 3-4 mm.
