All we do is think about the disparity between the East and the West but the fact is one team has created a major disparity betweeen all the teams in the NBA. This I believe is bad for the league. What those two chumps Malone and Payton did was make the NBA unwatchable. What those two did was just sick chasing a ring as a superstar is one thing but to do it on coattails makes them a chumps in my books. This is as bad as what Isiah Thomas did when he canned Adrian Dantley in favor of his boy Mark Agguire. New rules need to be put into place to protect the integrity of the league what the Lakers are getting away with wrong. I liked the idea that any team can win it makes a fan of a team feel excited about his product. In this case what good is it to get to the finals or even the playoffs. David Sterns blew this one he needed to step in and stop the maddness that is going on where players only want to play for winners or play for a team if they get a certain someone.
There is no way Malone or Payton should be earning a veterans minimum salary or an exception. This is outrageous a travesty has just occured in the NBA.

Thats not true if they came to the Knicks we all would be say what the hell are they doing going after these old farts. You know what they coattailing on the two most dominating players in Shaq and Kobe. Where the hell was their fun when they were with Utah and Sonics I didn't see them take a pay cut to get talent around them. This is wrong this an injustice happening man. I can understand it if they were averaging 10 points and joined the Lakers and said you know what I want a ring so I'm going to the Lakers thats fine but these guys are averaging 20 points a game still.

Don't underestimate the likelyhood of 4 hall of famers who SAY they want to win a championship, have issues regarding playing time, the need to modify the triangle, and the willingness of a single minded player like Kobe who wants so bad to be the next Jordan, share the ball with the other 3.

Looks great on paper....but thats a ton of ego on the court now.

I think if anyone can get these players to check their ego at the door, it is Phil Jackson. I think he did the job with the Bulls (Horace Grant, Scottie and Michael, then with Dennis Rodman and Toni Kukoc). He will have them playing together with all the zen BS. Do I want them to be a cohesive unit? No, b/c that means I have to look at those damn Hollywood flunkies on ABC during playoff time at a game that they most likely don't understand while I sit at home, a true fan of the game, eating cheese out of a can on my couch from Rent-a-Center. (LOL, just kidding about the cheese, it's really cracker barrel).

I'd put my hard earned money on the fact that Dianne Cannon doesn't know the difference between a basketball hoop and a hula hoop, and she gets in the door b/c of the green she earned of some sweathogs back who went to one of her crappy movies!!!

Anyway, my rant is over. Sorry to vent like that.

I gotta agree somewhat. When you put it all aside, thats what they are doing, riding the coat-tails of the Lakers to get a ring. I didn't see Ewing go play backup for Shaq and get his ring, instead he played with Orlando. Same for Barkley, he could have come back and joined the LAkers for a ring but he didn't. On the other hand, why didn't Malone or Payton go to the Kings, or Mavs? Or the Nets. You know, to be a champion, you have to beat a champion, not join them. Mark Madsen has a couple of rings, and thats cause he was riding the coat-tails of Shaq and Kobe. I have a hell of a lot of respect for Kidd and Alonzo wanting to do it by EARNING it, rather than go join the LAkers. And come to think of it, aren't the Lakers capped out like most other teams, how do they land both Payton and Malone? I know Malone is taking a cut, but still, the whole thing stinks.

Yeah, It is unfair and a cornball move for Payton and Malone to make just to get a ring. That was an excellent point about those two not taking a pay cut to get ore players on their own teams (moreso with Karl Malone though). But guess what- they didn't win a damn thing yet. I am still expecting that LA team to implode due to the massive egos over there. In addition, I hope the Nets go out the same way. I can't stand Jason Kidd (especially after all the insults he has hurled at our team since he's been in NJ) and Zo has been the de facto enemy just from the days of the wars against the Heat. I am a true Knicks fan who has NO love for either of those teams and especially those two chumps acros the river. I hope they both burn and look like laughingstocks by not even making it to the Finals.

I only give LA and NJ credit for kicking the rest of the NBA with the wake up call that alot of teams (our Knicks included) needed to hear in order for them to stop lallygagging when it comes to retooling to win a title for REAL.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
