Lets all review what he has done good and bad in terms of being a gm... what makes him so great? Should we really be excited about him coming here? Seems like the pacers suck almost as much as we do

Oneal for Dale Davis was good for them.

Antonio Davis for Jonathan Bender was horrible.

Im guessing he swinged the Ron Artest and Brad Miller deal when he got them for Chicago for Jalen Rose, Travis Best?? and crap.

Someone correct me if im wrong but Im guessing this was all Walsh's doing.

I think he was only so-so as a GM but he does have credibility around the league and is not hated by people, which is something IT lacks right now. The last major trade Indy made for Dunleavy and Murphy was a bad one IMO.

^Done by Larry Bird, no?

Be careful when assigning anything to his watch during the Bird era. Really, I think Colangelo and West are better candidates, but Walsh is probably best equipped to deal with Dolan. I'm a bigger fan of Walsh as an ambassador of the game and basketball lifer than I am him as an actual decision maker. He's definitely earned the respect he receives however.

then it makes more sense for him to be taking mills job, and then bringing in a GM under him, and likewise a new coach.

I'd be for that.

Not interested in Walsh at all

Why cant we go off the board and find a young smart savvy guy like Calipari? Why are we looking at 70 year old guys?

Because a college resume doesn't compare to an NBA resume and the last time Calipari was in the NBA with the Nets he sucked. College is College.... Pros is Pros.

The fact the Indiana Pacers were relevant at all was an accomplishment. They were a brawl away from winning it all... that team was great. Loaded at every position, and it was rebuilt on the fly after losing in the Finals against the Lakers. He's a championship ring away from being a Hall of Fame GM.

I agree that I'd rather have West or Colangelo though. Colangelo is at the top of my list.

Any of the three would be light years better than what is presently here or Layden, so I don't really care which of the three is hired. Just want one of the three.
