From Alan Hahn's blog:

Survey Says...!

I engaged in an entertaining conversation with some of my fellow beat writers -- We might have had a few chardonnays...what of it? -- about a potential game show that might provide some yuks as the season winds down.

It'll be a version of Family Feud....

Introducing the Dolan family! Isiah, Jimmy, Steve, Glen and Stephon!

...And the Stern family! Jerry, Kiki, Greg, Mark and Kenny!

Let's start the Family Feuuuuuuuud.

Richard Dawson (we go old school here) invites Isiah and Jerry to the podium for the first question.

Top five answers on the board. We surveyed 100 Knicks fans to answer the question, "What comes to mind when you think of the Knicks?"

Isiah slaps at the buzzer.

Isiah: "Progress is being made?"

(Dolan yells, "Good answer! Good answer!")

Dawson: "Progress. Survey Says....!"

X Buzzzzzzz!

[Crowd: awwwwwww]

Dawson turns to Jerry Colangelo. "OK you can either answer or pass to the Dolans."

Colangelo, grinning, "We'll pass. I gotta hear this."

Dawson strolls to the Dolan panel. Shakes hands with Jim, who immediately informs Dawson he is not speaking publicly and Mills isn't allowed, either. So Dawson goes to Grunwald, who sheepishly explains that all interviews have to be arranged by a PR person. Dawson looks at Marbury.

"No comment," Marbury says.

Dawson, exasperated, heads back up the table to a grinning Thomas.

Top five answers on the board . . .

Isiah: "This is not a permanent situation."

Dawson: "Is that your answer?"

Dolan claps, all, including a few PR people standing behind him pecking on a Blackberry, robotically follow suit. Good answer!

Dawson, shaking his head: "Is it 'not permanent'?!"

X X Buzzzzzzzz!

Dolan shakes his head. "Who did you survey, our media?"

Dawson stays with Thomas, since no one else is allowed to talk.

Isiah is still grinning.

"Curry's conditioning has never been a problem."

Dawson pauses.

"Really?"

Thomas replies, "Never been a problem."

[Dawson makes a funny face at the camera. Crowd laughs accordingly.]

"Curry's conditioning never a problem. Survey sezzz.....!"

X X X Buzzzzzzz!

Crowd groans. Stern family immediately starts clapping and yelling out potential answers.

Kenny: "Pathetic! Pathetic"

Mark: "Embarrassing!"

Bryan: "Troubling!"

Kiki: "I never actually sat with Steve Mills!"

Jerry listens to the answers as they huddle up and then turns to Dawson.

"We're gonna go with, 'Disaster' Richard."

Dawson raises his arm to the board.

"Disaster!"

Ding!

"Number One answer!"

Gonna give two plugs here, which I rarely do on the blog.

1. With March Madness underway, check out Knicks play-by-play man Gus Johnson's website
. On it he has all kinds of information, including downloadable "Gus Tones," which are his catchphrases and memorable calls.

2. Go find Taking Shots by Keith Glass. It's a hilarious book about his life as an NBA agent with some amazing and poignant stories about the NBA. It's a must-read for Knicks fans, because there are some Isiah Thomas stories and an entire chapter dedicated to the Larry Brown fiasco. It just came out on paperback so you should be able to find it at any major bookstore and, of course, online.

*

What, you really wanted to break down the win over Miami? OK, here's one observation: Randolph Morris didn't play a single second.

Survey says!

[Buzzzzzzzzzz]

I think from now on we should have 70's Game Show sounds to play whenever Isiah speaks to the media. We could buzz him, gong him and occassionally he can hear a few Ding, Ding Dings when he gets it right.

Perhaps a sitcom laugh track would be fitting, as well.

Dolan: "I have seen significant and evident progress."

[Laughter]

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
