Damn that kid has talent!! I'd like it if half the people I work with had that level of talent and desire.

Is it wrong that when I saw this thread I immediately thought it was about Nate?

Anyhow, all I'll say is that I would pay good money to see what happens to any kid that tries to mess with him.

Kids nowadays are stronger than ever. Not counting the kids hijacked by game consoles but the kids that are into sports are getting developed early. I have seen kids at 9 years old in little league blasting balls 10 feet over the fence. Isn't there also a kid that is a body builder that was in the Howard Stern show? Steorids in our food?

He follows directions quite well, i wonder how it will translate when he beomes of age to throw the leather and get hit back.

Can we say another sugar ray leonard in the making.

true, but I wonder how old this kid is? I mean he looks really young, like 5 or6. what happens in school when some 6 year old takes his toy and this kid lets loose, the only way he knows how? I mean some young pre-schooler could really, really get hurt... this kid doesn't have a clue how skilled he already is and how much he can hurt someone his own age...

It's safe as long as the parents that around him show great example and instill discipline on him.....in other words they have to be great parents in order to raise a kid like this up.

IMO......i think its good to teach a kid while they are young the art of being fit. It teaches them to be confident and should empower them. On the other hand I grew up around kids that just loved to fight and were getting trained like this and just wild....fighting all the time. A good parent would keep a kid like this busy and focused.

I would love to get my kid involved with martial arts or some type of sport. he's only 4 years old....alot of leagues/gyms/dojo's start excepting kids at 5 years old. I think that is a fine age cuz they will be starting regular school too. It's good to have kids focused on activities. It's also very good to have great parents around to make sure you teach a young kid the right thing so it will stay with them until they begin to think on their own as a pre-teen.

My son is pretty good with a basketball, btw. This summer I plan on taking him out and running him a little. He loves it. I think he just loves to be out with me and playing.....but the thing is he is very scary with that basketball. He doesn't have the strength or height to make a basket but he can dribble with either hand. He can run with the ball under control and change direction. He can also run and pass without traveling. He can also pretend to do a lay-up and he looks good, except he just doesn't have the strenght yet. He's amazing to me.

Sign him up in a league the second the opportunity presents himself. Though, at the same time, you don't want to get carried away. The whole "Football Father" thing or whatever it's called.

my daughter is 5 and she is into gymnastics.. the instructor moved her up to the next age group because she was much further along than the kids in her group. my daughter is fearless, and pretty athletic. I let her do it because she likes it now, but I won't push her, I will let her do what here heart leads her to do, just as long as it is something that will keep her fit both physically and ,mentally...

Right, any dojo u go to is going to teach u that martial arts is about self discipline first & foremost, physical training second... violence is never ever taught as a means to practice the art you choose to follow... it's all about self defense & self restraint, using the art when you absolutely have to & never in anger or to show off how much of a tough guy you are... the people who learn martial arts to be tough guys are plain thugs regardless if they know it or not... if it's not martial arts, they'll get themselves a gun & cap someone... that's just a product of their upbringing like Eny said.
