"Renaldo Balkman, who has previously undisclosed back spasms, also will not be available tonight."

Balkman's looked MUCH worse this year than last year. He's had a bunch of injuries that haven't gotten much attention. If I were a new GM, I'd give him a mulligan for this year and still consider him an important bench player next year.

Might as well. Everything else has gone down the tubes.

That must be why Balkman decided to help out in the post and leave Michael Finley open on the perimeter with a 3 pt lead and seconds remaining in regulation.

That's the life of an NBA athlete. He's not gonna get any sympathy. Kobe's playing with a torn ligament in his hand.

This is nothing but a signaling the team is starting it's annual late season shutdown mode. The dude jumps around on the bench like an Orangutan cheering showing no signs of an ill back. I SAY UGH probably told him he's trying to end the season on a high note by playing the young players namely Chandler and he won't receive that much playing time anymore(like as if he was in the first place).

How is the guy injured this bad considering he hasn't played much?

Seriously does anyone think Balkman's back is hurting him any worse than Q's?

This is all too hokey.

We had an article the other day acknowledging Zach's courage throughout the season playing hurt and a couple days later this blurb on Balk.

Zach was out the other day, now Balk is out are we getting the drift yet? We've seen this before folks.

Make no mistake about it if we were 1 or 2 gms out of playoff contention all these players would be crying about playing time and every one of them available to play, including Marbury.

They pulled this last year and people actually bought it that the Knicks would have made the playoffs if everyone was healthy.

Yeah I agree it looks like the signals are now there of a team that is finally packing it in. Sad that right up to the Hornets game they were still trying to win games and talking about playoffs....but it just goes to show how retarded this franchise has become.

As to Balkman he was laying on his back on the ground the past few games on the bench was he not? So....maybe he does have spasms. Probably has them from SITTING ON THE DAMN BENCH ALL SEASON LONG for no good reason.

I agree with you and True Blue.. this is all too fishy... I think we are headed for shutdown mode and good. this should have happened weeks ago.. now we need to get rid of Isiah, and that would bring light to a rather dark and ugly season..

Agree 100%. No sympathy at all. I didn't say I feel sorry for him or he deserves credit for playing hurt. I'm just giving my interpretation of his statistics this year and how I'd use him next year.

I'm with you. I can see Isiah whispering in Balks ear, "hey man, take tonight off". Curry is next.

At the end of the season we'll be hearing about how the whole Marbury thing cost the team 10 wins, the adjustment with Zach and Curry cost them at least 5 wins and the "injuries" with over a quarter of the season left + getting Chandler and Morris PT, will cost another 2-3 wins.

So if not for all of that, the Knicks would have won 35-40 games and been right there in the playoff hunt.

Oh and it'll be the fans and media fault for not having the patience or requisite basketball knowledge to understand all of that.

Not be a jerk but if you watch Balkman's legs on that dunk he barely gets off the ground. Not sure why we are impressed when a guy over 6-6 dunks a basketball.

It is not how high he jumps... it is how he managed to decimate the opponent... Oakly would be proud.
