I personally have thought about this and say personally for me no. I'll flat out leave if this continues. A while ago I thought so.

You can't be held hostage if you accept whatever the Knicks give you no matter what. If you refuse to like any other team(even though other teams may represent every quality you like as a fan), which is not to be understood as bandwagoning because that would be liking the present winners or trendy teams.

Take for instance I'll never like the Spurs although they are Champions, they have very good qualities as a franchise but there are too many things I dislike about the team. The same with Dallas, Lakers, and Detroit. There are other teams I like though.

So if the Knicks give us 3 more yrs of similar output(I'm talking no plan, no vision, excuses, and no effort) what do you do?

I meant to type Dolan singular

Yeah somewhat... for I will tune in for the draft to see what idiotic Isiah trade goes down. I will watch summer league. I will read articles about the team. I will follow camp. I will watch pre-season.

Yet, if the same mess returns with Isiah in charge? I won't give it very far into the regular season to turn it off at this point.

Last year I gave it 33 games (end of december) before I made a decision on what I thought about them - unfortunatley they were SO bad that come mid-december after the Celtic and Sixer blowouts I gave up and started blasting them.

This year I gave myself 15 games. Once those 15 games were done? I WAS DONE and started blasting them.

Next year? Well...we might be talking the first 5 games. If it's more of the same, hell, if they come into camp fat and stupid again and look like a joke in preseason? I'm done VERY quickly.

So, yes, Dolan and Isiah do hold me hostage because I'm a fan of the team and want to see them excel. So I go through all the motions until they show me they're not excelling.

It sucks....

There are many teams I don't like but I respect them.

I also enjoy watching them as they play at a high level.

I Hate the lakers historically, but Kobe is amazing and Phil Jax is an old knick whom I used to watch and thing the world of as a coach, so its with respect and admiration I watch them. I don't like the Mavs, but like Cuban. I don't like the Blazers, but respect the rebuild as a fan.

I love the knicks, but don't like them, nor have any shread of respect at any level for them save for a few role players I do like.

THat being said, and the Nets whom I have a Long Island history of and moving to my birthplace have my respect. This all while living 600 mile south of NYC!

Not the BobCats mind you, whom I have had season tickets with!

But if you never want to leave as a fan, it's not an option(as in going to root for another team)you're not being held hostage. You're just weathering a long storm. You're only held hostage if you want to leave but give Dolan chances to make you think thrice.

I'm not going as far as next season with Isiah in charge to "give them a chance." If they announce he's returning, I quit as a fan till further notice.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

being a fan is an emotional issue- its part of who you as a person are- there is something called loyalty.

So I disagree with the notion that we aren't being held hostage- Dolan as owner has done a horrible job of keeping fan loyalties- and at this point, I am turned off to the knicks- I can accept bad basketball- I'm not one of the fans they think won't put up with rebuilding. Likewise- when you clearly must be saying to fans- I don't care what you think, I'm forcing Isiah to coach this crap and I am not allowing any moves to possibly undo this crap until the summer- then yes, there is an arrogance and clear lack of understanding of what owning a team involves.

No, he is not holding me hostage, but I think he might be holding papabear. I haven't seen him for quite some time. We need to send a swat team to recover him from Dolan's basement.

I can not see Knicks any more.
Dolan and Isiah took them hostage and then beheaded them one by one...
This was showen on TV to send the message.
We have only one hostage named Dlee with the head but this will not last long.
Good save the Knicks!!!

if u want to leave, leave... i don't get what's stopping you... why bother posting here if you don't wanna support the team anymore? there's plenty of other NBA team fan sites out there for anyone who wants to jump ship... this is silly to even discuss, Dolan's not holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to support this team... if you're not willing to weather the obvious storm we're in now w/the hope of being rewarded later, so be it... the Nets play right across the river, it's not that far... pretty soon you'll see a whole migration of bandwagoning Knicks fans jumping ship to go root for the Nets when they move to Brooklyn... let them leave, just means more seats at the Garden for those who actually do want to go see the games.

everyone of you who keep saying "If Dolan does this, I'm done as a Knicks fan" type of stuff is just blowing hot air... no need to announce your departure... just go if that's what floats your boat.

Maybe you are content with losing, but I'm not. I say what's on my mind. If you don't like it, don't read it.

if you're stupid enough to deem that i'm content with losing by what i just posted, so be it... all i'm saying is it does no good to keep complaining about being a fan of this franchise... if it hurts so much & you despise everything about this team as you make it seem, then go root for another... no one's holding a damn gun to your head to keep supporting this franchise... if you're gonna post something i'm gonna comment on it... deal with it, it's a public forum.

I'm dealing with it. Didn't you read my post or did you again write another blind post?

And yeah, you got me. I'm going to go root for the Nets because I'm not a real fan. Real fan shouldn't be upset and threatened to stop caring about a team they used to love. Real fans should be here talking about the progress Eddy Curry has made or...what exactly? There's absolutely nothing positive to discuss so if you're looking for some sunshine in between the clouds go to nyknicks.com and you'll get it.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

when u tell someone not to read something if they don't like it, that's not dealing with it... that's a copout... i gave you an opinion of your comments... i didn't direct any vitriol or hatred your way, & yet you seem to feel insulted by my comments.

i try not to begrudge anyone for criticizing the players on this team because i do realize they are worthy of criticism, as is the management & ownership... i've taken part of all that myself... what i'm objecting about is the constant "I'm gonna go root for another franchise if this team keeps this up" type of comment... if that's how you feel, go... simple... why bother announcing it to the world? do you think Dolan's gonna come knocking on your door begging you to stay if you threaten to go root for another team? seriously... what's the point?

As you said before, this is a forum. People are permitted to speak their mind and can really write anything they want that's not obscene or over the top. There's nothing wrong with people expressing their frustration over an internet forum.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.
