Patrick Ewing has tutored perhaps the two best young centers in the N.B.A. and he may soon add the words Hall of Famer to his résumé. That, and five years as an assistant, should make him a strong candidate when the next round of head coaching jobs rolls around. “It’s definitely something I want,” he said.
