It's an accoustic-electric (Using it as an accoustic) but when I get save more money, I want to buy a nice electic guitar too. My goal is to one day get a Gibson Les Paul. This is my first born here though. It's an Estaban:

Started working on it today. I learned to tune it pretty quickly and actually did it in quick time, but I used an electric tuner to help. lol. It's fun though. I love learning to play this thing even though I don't know shyat.

Hey man -- congrats and good luck. I don't know much about Esteban guitars, but it looks nice, hopefully it plays nice, sounds nice, feels nice and stays in tune. Ultimately, it's up to you what you do with it. Holla back and let us know the progress. One day we can have a psychedelic UK acid jam

Thanks. It's hard as hell but fun and I'm working on it. I practiced for a nice amount today.

Cool. I have a second or third cousin who had about a dozen Gibson's, back in the late 70's and he could play. I heard later he was being sponsored by Max Gail, from the sitcom show 'Barney Miller' ('Det. Wojeciehowicz'). That's how talented he was and maybe still is. I haven't heard from him in years.

Gibson's are nice. Some of the top guitars in the world. I'm much more interested in Fender's myself. Hey Allan, maybe as you get better playing you can make a couple of Youtube videos and post them? Good luck.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Allanfan for tuning up your guitar, go to http://www.8notes.com/guitar_tuner/
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I appreciate the good lucks, everyone. I am very frustrated with it though. I try so hard to get good at switching chords and I just can't seem to do it fast. So I started playing the chords real slow and it's still hard, but I am trying as we speak.

izybx I just started playing and thank you.

Thanks for the link kam.

Stick with it bro.

I had a lot of trouble switching chords when I first started. After a lot of practice though, it just becomes natural. Its harder to hold down chords on acoustics, if/when you switch to an electric guitar, you will notice it is easier to play chords on that.

Anyway, enjoy the guitar and good luck with the learning.

One thing to consider - I don't know if you bought this guitar used or what - is a setup by a guitar tech. He may be able to make the guitar more playable. Should cost $50 or less.

You might also try a lighter gauge of string until you develop some more strength in your fingers.

It really doesn't have anything to do with the strings. I guess it's all practice. It's mostly my coordination. When I switch chords, I have trouble putting my fingers on all the right strings at once. And I'm just working on supposed easy chords now. lol

I actually want to get an instrument... I don't know how to play. I think it would be awesome to know though. Good luck bud.

Totally normal. Just take it slow. It's better to do it slow correctly than to do it fast wrong. If you do it fast wrong, you're just training yourself in bad habits.
