Center Jerome James realizes there's no role for him on these Knicks and hopes Thomas releases him this summer if he can't trade him. James is owed $12.8M after this season. James was a DNP for the third time in four games.

James said he understands his buried status, but would rather not be a Knick next season. Since getting healthy and being activated five weeks ago, James has appeared in two games for five garbage-time minutes.

Because of James, the Knicks have the max 15 players and no roster spot to sign a playmaking point guard if one shakes loose now.

"I might not fit on this team, but I'll fit somewhere," James said - adding he won't negotiate a settlement.
