Did anyone else do this or am I the only dumb one? My girlfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I gave a list and said any of these including an HD DVD player. I did research over the summer and it was the most affordable. There was also indication that this war would last for a couple of years and at one point it looked like HD DVD would win. So when I got it for Christmas, I was excited with good reason at the time. The picture of the HD DVD's are unbelievable. I received Transformers in that format and it looked better than the theater I went to see it in. Not to mention the sound from my surround sound, though very dated ( my next upgrade hopefully to a 7.1 this year) sound just as good or in some instance better than the theater. Then about a month after I got it, defections started to happen. It started with Warner Bros. and then Netflix and Walmart follow suit. So now I own my very own "betamax" dinosaur since Toshiba decided not to make anymore. Well, it will be a year or two before I get a Blu Ray because of the price so I will get take advantage of the inevitable price cuts on HD DVD movies. P.S. I did see the Blu Ray in action in Circuit City and I have to admit that the picture was incredible and looked better than HD DVD. It almost looked like 3d. Is it because of the television it was on or is that the standard for Blu Ray?
