Riley: Heat has no interest in Eddy Curry
By Ira Winderman

MIAMI

Heat coach Pat Riley refuted an ESPN report that linked his team to Knicks center Eddy Curry in advance of Thursday's 3 p.m. NBA trading deadline.

Asked specifically about Curry at Wednesday's practice at AmericanAirlines Arena, Riley said, "Wrong. Wrong. That's a blog b.s. Not that I don't have respect for him, but that's blog b.s."

Riley, who rarely addresses such rumors, predicted an uneventful trading deadline for his team in the wake of the blockbuster deal two weeks ago of Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix for forward Shawn Marion and guard Marcus Banks.

"We've made a big move already," Riley said, "and unless it's a perfect fit … otherwise I'm not going to do it."

Riley downplayed trying to maximize the expiring contracts of guard Jason Williams and forward Ricky Davis. Once the trading deadline passes, the Heat loses its right to deal either without approval from the player in the offseason.

"I'm not just going to do something because they have an expiring contract," Riley said. "Obviously, there are teams out there that want to unload things we don't want. I don't want 'em, and I don't care who they are.

"But, also, we value J-Will, we value Ricky. They are our free agents and we will negotiate with them. There's also other opportunities in the summer, but it's up to them."

Yea, but it means no expirings either. Isiah probably wouldn't trade for expiring anyway, so I guess its good.

Gee, I've _NEVER_ heard a GM refute a rumored trade before...........only to see it happen.

Not saying this is the case here and that Curry is headed to Miami I am just saying:

Paxson heavily and angrily refuted Crawford and Curry to NY trades.
Cuban laughed at reporters who said Kidd was rumored to Dallas.
Isiah has said time and again he's not making any moves but is seeking to improve the team - then does some huge trade we never imagined.

So, this article? IS AS BELIEVABLE as the rumors themselves.

After listening to the Isola's snipit I believe Riley. Isola said from a source the deal isn't going to happen. Curry is almost unmovable at this stage. Curry's value is pretty much nothing, what I thought. He said Jamal, Balkman, Nate, and Lee have value from discussions he had with GM's during the All-Star weekend but they must be packaged in order for the Knicks to get value back. He also shed some light on the answers I SAY UGH gives during media interviews. He said the guy is paranoid.

Cuban also said he had zero interest in trading for Kidd and Riles said the same about trading away Shaq, so that kills your thinking.

Riley IMO is doubtful to the point Isola mentions another source of it not happening

Superstars are usually put on a facade when trade discussions may be brewing. It's done to increase the interest in trade offers coming a teams way or a team lessening the bargain on their end to get a deal done. Plus behind the scenes Riley was throwing jabs at Shaq every since last season. And Cuban tried to trade for Kidd last yr so obviously those statements were suspect. Carter is a big name but he's no Superstar and nothing to believe stops are being pulled to obtain him and even more so for Curry.

Not all trade denials are legitimate. That doesn't mean all trade denials are illegitimate. My guess is that the very few are illegitimate and the ones that are just really stand out in memory. Besides, denying you have interest in Eddy is like Denying you have sexual interest in Janet Reno. It's just self-evident. It needs no explanation to be believed.

I know you're trying to be funny, but lets not let myopia completely envelope clear thinking. There is interest in a 25 y/o center that can score. Its just that he is clearly not a franchise centerpiece or a defensive presence. Dont believe the hype tho, he can be moved. See: Kwame Brown.

The one trade proposal I really liked was the one that had Zach going to Denver for Smith, Klesia, K-Mart, and possibly a draft pick. Accumulate players with upside while reducing redundancy.

Actually, to be fair, Kwame Brown is an expiring contract.

The trades for Knicks are not happening...
And not because of Dolan freeze Isiah, and not because Isiah decided to stay pat but because THIS PLAYERS HAVE ZERO VALUE.
This is the most atrocious collection of crap ever.

I guess I didn't appreciate the demand for lazy, fat 13/4 big men with big contracts.

According to a league source, Miami contacted Curry's former club, the Chicago Bulls, to gather information on the center. -- Daily News

13/4... wow. That's major suckage. I would call him the next Felton Spencer, except Felton could board. What's scary, is if you look at Felton Spencer's best season, he's clearly better than Eddy Curry.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
