(1) Isiah gets canned. I have no confidence in this guy anymore. This is a guy who wanted to trade David Lee and filler for Darius Miles last year - and some of you guys want Isiah to stick around and make more trades??? No way. He's got to go. After that...

(2) We definitely do this trade with Denver for Z-Bo. I like it.
Z-Bo and minor filler for cap filler (K-Mart, Najara, etc.) & a combination of:
Linas Kleiza This kid's good. Inside and outside player, young and can really shoot the ball. He's big enough to battle inside and actually quick enough and a good enough perimeter player to play the 3. One of the best young players in the league actually.
Steven Hunter who's still fairly young, big and a solid shotblocker (one of the best backup centers in the league actually).
Denver's 1st rounder which we turn into a DJ Augustin or maybe Kevin Love if he slips
JR Smith - he's young, big (6'6), athletic and can shoot the ball. Still has room for growth and improvement.
Not a bad trade for the knicks. Not at all.

(3) Then like I've been saying, I look into doing a trade with Portland for Sergio Rodriguez and Martell Webster, both of whom have struggled playing under Nate McMillian. In a new enviornment without constantly looking over their shoulders when they make mistakes and armed with 40 mins. a night, I'm convinced both of these guys could flourish and reach their potential. You make it a fair trade by giving the Blazers a combo of Lee/Chandler, Lee/Robinson, Lee/Balkman, etc... Lee gives them an automatic double-double guy, a superior rebounder, something they don't have - Lee would do wonders for the Blazers for the second half, into the payoffs and beyond. And if they don't wanna give up Webster, maybe I go Lee/filler for Rodriguez and Rudy Fernandez, the talented 6'6" SG/SF from Spain they acquired last year.

(4) We hopefully get into the top 3 of the draft and get a franchise player. If not, Hasheem Thabeet now looks like the guy to pick for this team.

(5) You just cut your losses with Curry and get whatever you can get for the guy - I'd do cartwheels in front of the Garden for a week if we can get at least 1 future 1st rounder for him.

----------------

5 - Hasheem Thabeet/Steven Hunter/Randolph Morris
4 - Linas Kleiza/Hunter/Morris
3 - Martell Webster/Chandler or Balkman/Kleiza
2 - JR Smith/Jamal Crawford
1 - Sergio Rodriguez/DJ Augustin?

How that for a core. Not bad. Young. Exciting. Versatile. Athletic. Defense and offense.

We just gotta get someone in here who has a vision. This would be the route I'd go but I'd applaud anyone who'd come in here and just clean house top to bottom. If we get a shrewd, clever GM in place we could completely flip this whole roster by the end of the summer.

where is this trade being talked about? i think we'd do well to even get KMart & a 2nd rounder for Zach from DEN... their contracts are almost identical.

I would have to disagree. Hedo Turgalo, Rafer Alston and many other players were not key pieces for their team till their second or third season with the team. In that respect- I have to give Randolph credit - despite being on a selfish team (particularly Crawford)- he still has a double/double for the season, his steals and assists have gone up dramatically from the first half of the season, he is a very good rebounder and has a much more consistent midrange jumper and is now learning to take it to the hole and finish- whih he was never asked to do in Portland. Let's try and 'remember' he has yet to play a full season with the team - and I am astounded that so many people would write him off in less than half a season!!

It is not unexpected to see a team struggle to integrate a key player/s into their line up - and it was compounded by swtiching the focus from pounding it into the post to having a more fluid game. Everyone expected that Randolph would have difficulty finding cohesion on a team that essentially had two plays- throw it to EC in the post or let Crawford chuck a shot. So not only did the Knicks have to contend with the fact that they were trying to change their basic game plan but ALSO incorporate rookies (Lee/Nate and lately Balkman) into the team as more than 10-15 minutes a game guys, throw in Marbury's istability this year with his father's death/bone spurs and attitude as well as trying to add in Jeffries and attempting to make Crawford a leader (big mistake)-because at crinch time (like Eddie) he has not adapted to a more fluid game plan - you essentially have a recipe for disaster. This team needs to settle for a year or two and actually develop a 'core' - Lee/Nate are basically the only ones that can be said to represent the 'new' Knicks.

I would much rather see a trade for Jamal Crawford and F Jones/M Rose for Klieza/Smith and Kmart. This would allow us to have tremendous front court depth - if you wish to go small - you can have Randolph/Kmart (playing C)/Q Rich/Kleiza and Nate at the point.

1. Denver gets a true experienced shooting guard - allowing Iverson to play point as well as keeping him rested.
2. Defense in Rose and Jones (perhaps Jeffries instead of Rose (?)

The Knicks would get:
1. Two shooters for the SG spot - in JR Smith/Klieza - most importantly - no guy who jacks up 20 shots a game!!
2. Tremedous depth at PF/C with a combo of Lee/Randolph/Kmart/Curry/James
3. Allow Nate to grow at the PG positin -this year and next year split time with Marbury - so he is ready by 2009
4. Depth at SF will e soldified with Balkman/Chandler and Q Rich

A line up of Curry/Randolph/ Q Rich/ Kleiza and Nate as starters
second line up of Kmart/Lee/Balkman/JR Smith and Collins- would be awesome - since this line up has atleast 3 players who can score!!

Personally - I think moving Crawford will be much more beneficial to the Knicks than moving Randolph.

I like the deal as well for a couple of reasons, (A) The blackhole gets traded... (B) We shed cap.

I'd try to get a 3 way going w/ Sac Town Included. The trade would look like:

Randolph to Denver, Kleinza, Najera and Randolph Morris to Sacramento, and Artest, J.R. Smith and Stephen Hunter to NYK

Curry/Hunter/James
Lee/Jeffries/Rose
Artest/Balkman/Chandler
Smith/Jones/Richardson
Crawford/Robinson/Marbury/Collins

*** Apply for the Injury Exception for either Q-Rich or Marbury, or just cut Jerome James.

*** Draft Jerryd Bayless(Arizona 2G) but will be a pg in the NBA w/ our draft pick-- I think he will be a better pro then Derrick Rose
