Blazers may be shopping Jack

One NBA Eastern Conference GM said he believed the Portland Blazers were shopping Jarrett Jack, and wanted future draft picks in return.

The thinking being that drafting Jack wasn't a Kevin Pritchard move (Steve Blake's signing and Sergio Rodriguez's pick were) and that Portland is going to need to move a body or two to free up room next season for the arrival of, at least, Rudy Fernandez and Greg Oden, and possibly a first-round pick.

I'd do it. A future 1st rounder top 20 protected and Chandler.

That's a bit harsh.

Not to say it's a great trade, because I'm not necessarily in love with Jack, but in reality, Chandler is basically a mid second rounder-quality player, which Isiah drafted way too high. A top-20 protected pick might not get cashed in for a long time. So, overall, it's not *that* bad.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I guess it depends on how you value Chandler. Personally, I think Chandler is like most Isiah picks: exciting player, athletic, but when push comes to shove, it's a reserve-quality player.

I think you mean mormon.

JoeC is no moron. He's smarter than 2 rocks put together. He just has a hard on for Jarrett Jack like you wouldn't believe.

We have a bunch of jacks already.

No way I'm trading ANY draft picks right now, especially for a guy like Jack, who is best fit as a backup PG in this league.

Nate for Jack straight up.

Nate when healthy has been one of the few bright spots for this organization... he has been on the rise, I would not trade him for an mediocre player like Jack.

I know Jack is somewhat average, but I do like the toughness & professionalism he'd bring to this team of gutless check collectors. But, aside from Lee & our # 1, I'm not sure that we have anything they'd want.

The funny thing about this post the top 20 protected pick. When exactly would we not be one of the 20 worst teams in the league??

I still try to pry Sergio Rodriguez outta Portland. That's the guy I want, not Jack. He's one of the best kept secrets in the NBA. That kid can ball. I can't believe he doesn't get any burn out there. Steve Blake??? You gotta be kidding me. Draft another PG in Tauren Green? WTF????? No problem, I'd take a chance on this kid in a heartbeat....

I still say Martell Webster (a starter but has a weird role - if he's not on, he usually struggles and winds up sitting for long stretches - even though he's young and talented you just get the feeling that he's not considered a main cog out there) AND Sergio Rodriguez for David Lee and minor filler. That is a great trade for us and our future. You bring both of those guys here and give them 40 mins. a night EVERY NIGHT sink or swim. It wouldn't even matter to me if at first Webster went 0-15 from the field or Sergio threw the ball away 10 times. Just give them ample time to develop. That's it. They both have suprisingly reduced roles in Portland and just don't appear to be part of the core out there. This is something Portland SHOULD be interested in. Lee's an awesome reserve that would give them quality bench play for the second half and into the playoffs. On a team where your top rebounder is LaMarcus Aldridge at only about 7.5 a night, you can see right away where Lee would fit. Much, much more than anything Frye can give them. And now it would give Portland the chance to dangle Frye out there to see if they can get a draft pick or two.

Good trade for Portland now (Portland's a "now" team really on the verge of something special) and an awesome trade for us for the future - those two would be our future point and SG/SF for years to come.
