Whether you're a wrestling fan or not, I think you can appreciate how great Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is at cutting a promo and making a crowd of thousands of people both laugh and want to kill him dead at the same time.

First, a little background. The Rock was one of the most beloved performers in WWE - he made them a LOT of money. Then in 2001, he went away for a few months to go to Hollywood to do his first move, Scorpion King. He came back around August of that year and left again in June 2002 to do more movies. At this point, the crowd completely turned on him and said he sold out to Hollywood. He would come back in early 2003, and the WWE decided to listen to their fans and make Rock a bad guy. Though the thing is he was so entertaining as a bad guy that the crowds ended up cheering him again 3 months later.

Below is a promo he cut in Toronto in February of 2003, the story here is he wrestled Hulk Hogan at the previous Wrestlemania, and despite Hogan being the bad guy in that match, the Rock was the one who was booed out of the Air Canada Center. Well, now that he's back and he's now a bad guy - he decided to air his grievances to the Toronto crowd - and also bash the living hell out of them.

I dunno, I was watching this a little while ago and thought I'd share. :)

He's a good actor. Kind of a crappy wrestler, but everyone was a fan of his b/c he knew how to work the crowd. Very intelligent guy regardless.
